British citizen loses it in Bali ....

Post by Clarets4me » Wed Feb 06, 2019 3:23 pm

This charming lady, overstayed her visa by 160 days and was fined $25 per day, for the privilige, and then loses it with Immigration Officer .... she's been sentenced to 6 months, rather than the 12 months the prosecutor asked for .... over the top punishment or too lenient ?

too lenient IMO. 12 months hard labour and rations will do her some good

You can't slap someone across the face like that. A just sentence.

I know what you mean. If she'd have put her shoulder into it, she would have got far better leverage and made much better contact.

What a munter, lock her up on bread and water for 12 months and give her lessons on how to read a calendar.

Too much sympathy for arch criminals nowadays.

I've got the feeling that if she'd had a blue passport, she'd have been waving it around like the Holy Grail

Know I shouldn't have.
Some might say its plain wrong.
But giggled my head off reading this thread. :)

She actually looks like a an Argos Customer Care person I saw in action in Sheffield the other day.
Glad I didn't have to take anything back there.

The Thai immigration official was very calm. He didn't seem to even think about chinning her. I think the jail time will be good for the ' lady ' . Might be educational for her. She could learn about Buddhism or manners.

She'd have been given a £1 fine, a kiss on each cheek and a taxi home with our justice system.

Since when were Balinese people from Thailand???

Regardless of that her actions were very wrong. In Asia 'face' is everything. She should get 5 years for what she did!

...and also, I doubt she would learn much about Buddhism in a Balinese jail given that Hinduism is the main religion in Bali unlike the rest of Indonesia which is predominantly Islamic.
As Claret Diver said, " face" is everything in Asia...if she had done that in Aceh province, she might have found herself facing a public caning.
