Good read!
"I'm old enough to remember the days of just standing for a picture with a scarf above your head but when I walked into the media room, I saw a toy robot in the corner and immediately asked, 'What is that?!'"

It will be a thrill to welcome Crouchie if/when (because it's always down to SD to pick the team and subs) he comes on to the pitch at the Amex tomorrow. As a 65 year old, I can still feel the excitement as if I was only 18 (except I think that was the season we went down to Div 2).

We have moved on from Doc Iven and a player running to the top of the Longside and back then. Even Joe Gallagher managed to pass that one.

I don’t think Walters is the best case for highlighting how good are medicals are.ClaretTony wrote:We saw last year from the video of Walters' medical just how thorough they are at Burnley

Why not? A medical is not going to pick up future injuries. I thought the video was excellent and highlighted just how thorough they are.Quickenthetempo wrote:I don’t think Walters is the best case for highlighting how good are medicals are.

Re: Crouch in Daily Mail
What was frightening about that was the fact that Bond passed it to the Football League who themselves then passed him fit. The good thing was that it helped bring in new rules that forced selling clubs into passing on all medical information, something that West Ham didn’t do.Herts Clarets wrote:We have moved on from Doc Iven and a player running to the top of the Longside and back then. Doc Iven’s medical were legendary. I don’t think anyone ever failed one.

You do realise he suffered from a horrendous challenge against Rovers, the sort that potentially ends footballers careers?Quickenthetempo wrote:I don’t think Walters is the best case for highlighting how good are medicals are.

And why didn’t the medical pick up on this horrendous challenge beforehand?JohnMac wrote:You do realise he suffered from a horrendous challenge against Rovers, the sort that potentially ends footballers careers?

Joe Gallagher’s medical was whether he could climb one flight of stairs unaided and without his crutches to his hotel room in the Sparrow Hawk in less than an hour.
He passed it with flying colours in 54 minutes

Re: Crouch in Daily Mail
Walters was far from fit anf foolishly declared himself available for Ireland, where he wrecked it.
