Burnley Hotels

Post by Pearcey » Sat Feb 09, 2019 10:34 am

I’m coming up for the Wolves game. We used to stay at the Alexander but looks like it’s closed. Can anyone recommend another close to town?

Try the Ormerod.

Close to the Turf opposite the Fire Station, a very reasonable price and cracking breakfast.

Queen Vic (Premier Inn), just a bit further up the road from the Ormerod, or Rosehill House off Manchester Road

Cheers for that. I went for the Premier Inn for the parking. Will keep a note of the Ormerod though as it looks nice. Can’t wait to get up there again!

There's nothing in Burnley that's much better than sleeping rough.

Or in the car.

Avoid.

I’ve stayed in Burnley for 40 odd years and the Ormerod wins hands down and the price is reasonable at £32 for a single also as said the best breakfast in general that you’ll find.

If you can’t park outside then you can down the side of the property.

I've tried them all and my favourite by far is the Holiday Inn [Ightenhill]

Newish and clean, decent bar, 'free' breakfast, rooms/beds just what you want, tons of parking, walk to the Turf down the canal bank, and crucially a scrote free zone.

The Lawrence in Padiham is a lovely little place to stay.

Avoid the Bridge Bier Huis, really dull atmosphere full of real ale bores who think beer is more interesting to to discuss than drink. If you wear an anorak and Real Ale excites you then ignore my advice as its probably the place for you

Much less choice these days than there once was.

The Miners
The 110
Culvert

We usually go Coach and Horses.

I would try a pint in the cricket club first if the weathers alright and the Helmond lads are in town.
All the pubs near the ground will be busy afterwards.

If you’re in the Omerod then the Talbot is just down Omerod Rd, plus you’ve the excellent Shimla Spice there as well if you fancy a curry.

The Talbot is a good one if you want to watch a game on satellite also a VG selection of Ales, 6/7 the last time I was in there before Christmas and at a very reasonable prices.

But the Rifle Volunteer is my favourite read the link and you will see why even though the report is 4 years old, no satellite TV though but a friendly landlady 3 excellent Ales priced on a par with the Talbot or cheaper and plenty of conversation. Also will take you the same time from the Turf about 10 minutes.
