Surely better than McManaman who I had the rare misfortune to listen to today. How much money did he have on a Brighton win today? Miserable git.

Far from it. Acknowledged the passionate support of the fans that's always been there; the pride in the footballing status of the town and his high regard for Burnley -- the place he signed his first pro contract.CleggHall wrote:Arsenal man through and through, forgets his roots and where it all started.

Liverpool players from the 90s should love Burnley. We always 'let' them win 4-1.

Re: Lee Dixon
I liked it when he called Barnes’ pass for the first goal ‘a simple ball’. A simple ball that caused a defender to fall flat on his arse and play a team mate in on goal from 40 yards. The kind of ball that Pogba gets a reach around from pundits for.taio wrote:Totally agree. My favourite was "like them or loathe them". Complete tw4t.

Yes then his co commentator agreed and said "Must be a following their 1,500 to a 1,000" to which replied "nar 500"Espia wrote:Far from it. Re: Lee Dixon
The BT commentator was just as bad. At 3-1 with about 10 mins to go, they pulled up a chart showing that Burnley were near the top of the charts for late goals conceded, to which he commented tgat “Burnley might just be there for the taking”! Sounded like wishful thinking - they both gave the impression they were desperate for Brighton to get back into it.

Dixon of all people would admire what Dyche is doing....remember that " 1-0 to the arsenal " was invented when he played for them.

Re: Lee Dixon
I can't be bothered looking but i'll hazard a guess most of those late goals conceded where as a result of us chasing the game, and being caught on the break, the only ones which really cost us points were at Wembley and Old Trafford,we rarely let a lead slip late on,and certainly not a 2 goal cushion, pair of bellends.scouseclaret wrote:The BT commentator was just as bad. A lot of our fans think he was a big hit for us too was in our youth system but only played about 3 or 4 first team games for us before he was let out on a free by Bond and grab his chance with Arsenal top pro like but his liking for us is very strange.
Its like hes a Southerners mentality on everything Burnley

It was funny when he was talking about the town and fans.
He said....... "I know the fans up there"
Then after a little pause, he said.............. "I don't know all their names though"

Re: Lee Dixon
Surprised at some of the comments on this thread. He was pretty fair and even-handed in his commentary today and made a point of saying some really nice things about the town, the club and its fans to a national audience in the US.

Re: Lee Dixon
I agree, he seemed very complimentary about the club as a whole. What our fans need to realise is that he is not a Burnley fan and neither was the other commentator. From my view they went expecting a boring match which they said during the match. What they got was an end to end match with moments of brilliance. I feel they wanted another Brighton goal just to make it more of a match for the last 30 minsOshkoshclaret wrote:Surprised at some of the comments on this thread. Re: Lee Dixon
I didn’t realise it was mcmanaman commentating but it was the worst ever. Boring, monotone, pulling everything to bits and his dislike for Burnley was very evident. Like a previous poster has said after they pulled one back it was obvious he wanted Brighton to win.
Not just because of the way he was about Burnley but he is probably the worst commentator I’ve heard, worse than Jim belglan or whatever his name is.

This was totally ridiculous. Like we have previous for blowing 3 goal cushions under Dyche...scouseclaret wrote:The BT commentator was just as bad. Can’t believe we managed to get an actual ref on side for a change, particularly considering the Peter Walton referral in the studio who suggested 2 nailed on pens for them. Absolutely, the Hendrick one but as for the McNeil one they were making out we got away with murder when it would have been more than harsh to give that one given he had his back to the ball.....
As for the love them or loathe them comment from Mcmanaman...absolute gobshite. Perhaps we should stick him in a room with his mate Sutton and decide whether they should be loved or loathed....

Absolutely. Any normal job and they get sacked for such incompetence. Instead they get a kings ransom from tv companies cos they used to kick a ball around....burnley007 wrote:McManaman consistently called them Woods and Hendrix.

Really is not hard for anyone with half a brain to get names right....and if they can’t they can employ someone else who used to kick a ball around who can...

Re: Lee Dixon
That was the other thing. Murray(?) & mcmanaman had clearly decided that the narrative for the day was that this was a boring game between two poor quality sides, and they spent the entire first halt saying so despite a quality goal, loads of great saves, hit woodwork and all the other stuff most other people watch football for!Cleveleys_claret wrote:I agree, he seemed very complimentary about the club as a whole. Re: Lee Dixon
Its that ground or Brighton it self everybody seems to change when we play their
If we get something, and in recent times we have done very well they seem to think we should roll over and let them have it
If we play them at their own game they dont see pass the trees and rip us a new one
Everytime we play them and get something out of the game which is a regular occurrence now they must hate us a bit like Derby do for the same reason
Cos they think they are a bigger club than us everyone that's associated with them they must have this divine right this is how the plastics think, remember the playoffs against Reading they even ran on the pitch to celebrate I think they'd forgot they'd just lost and Coppell couldn't take it either he resigned straight after they just cant take little old Burnley sticking it up em

Re: Lee Dixon
Felt like Dixon was pretty against Burnley to be honest but I guess this thread shows its all about opinions.
Said Woods first goal showed a lack of confidence, never shut up about their penalty decisions and the 'offside' that never was. Claimed we only took 500 fans, said Dyche could have an argument in an empty room.
Probably being a bit precious but he seemed to want Brighton to score when it was 3-1
Very odd considering his history with us.
Also he kept calling Hendrick Westwood and Mee Taylor. They have numbers on their back for christ sake!
