McNeil (leading up to 2-0) ...

Post by FactualFrank » Sat Feb 09, 2019 8:14 pm

Does McNeil do some world class piece of trickery to get past their man, in his pass to Wood, or was it a bit of miss-control?

the only world class performance on that pitch today was Heaton.

Mis-control. But he takes players on and when you do that you get breaks. Surprised the anonymous Stephens didn’t sythe him down though.

gets a lucky deflection but then he plays an inch perfect ball with the outside of his foot so Wood can just walk on to it. Delighted he's signed a new deal because he is going to be huge for us on the pitch and then when we sell him back to Man Utd for 70 million ;)

taken from the BBC

"Finally from Sean Dyche with Match of the Day: "People have been talking about Tom Heaton but not much has been made of Dwight McNeil, a 19-year-old who's enjoying himself in the Premier League and got himself another assist today.

"There aren't that many young lads his age who could be new to the Premier League and performing at his level."

McNeil is the best prospect in my 32 year lifetime, easily.

What a player he already is, but imagine him at 24-25.

Why would Arsenal buy a defender when they can get a couple more attacking options?

I know people will say 'it's a business', etc etc, but I can never get my head round fans wishing their own players away. Would you never appreciate anything without selling it?

The confidence in this lad is something else.

You don’t often find players who make it look easy.

I just wish he was left alone and develop for us. I've seen too many promising players in their teens who are measured by what they might be worth in years to come only to become a 'whatever happened to' statistic.

The other wonderful thing in him now cementing a 1st team place is the money which would have been spent in the summer on that position SHOULD now be used to increase the money divided up for other positions strengthening our hand

It is his composure on the ball which is remarkable. You know when he get’s it, he is going to do something great.

Exciting times.

Thankfully, Brighton didn't seem to spot that his running at opponents when it was p1 ssing down with rain in the second half was the difference, and they just carried on giving tarks heading practice.
