But for....................

Inept officials against Watford, Man Utd and Southampton we would have won 7 on the bounce instead of 7 unbeaten

Assuming we’d have scored the penalty that wasn’t against Southampton and everything else aligned exactly as it did in that match thereafter.......and of course ignoring the decision that went in our favour yesterday evening that could also have changed the course of that game dramatically?

If’s and buts are an inevitable part of football, but yesterday we pulled out an amazing performance to leave the team 15th, when we’d dropped into the relegation zone less than 45 minutes before kick off. I was nervous, never mind the playing and coaching staff. But we did it.

We now have two weeks off, a few days in the Portuguese sunshine, and team spirit should be as high as it has been all season. We’re turning a corner and need this to continue - we can control what will happen, not what has, and based on last night things look better than they did.

No complacency though, just that usual work ethic. And more performances like last night.

Up The Clarets!

Hendrick handball should have certainly resulted in a penalty. Instead we scored a penalty immediately after. But 2 - 2 suggests the game would have played out in the same way and they would have definitely scored their penalty.

Yes, totally understand that it could have been 1-2, I was wondering why Dyched had said it should have been 2-2?

Because of Duffy's goal.

Ah, sorry, getchya. As you say, you can't guess at what may have happened had they been given the penalty, it could have been missed. We may have still got another penalty anyway. It was an horrendous decision by the ref, that's for sure.

After the Everton game if anyone had suggested we'd get 15/21 points and be 7 unbeaten, including a trip to Old Trafford,i'd have have said you'd had too much mulled wine, despite this great run which could have been even better,we are still in a fight for survival, and need to maintain this level.

The major difference is we are scoring and creating, another 3 yesterday,2 at Old Trafford,Barnes and Wood are on fire and as long as this continues and the defence is solid we'll pick points up against most teams, even the Tottenham game should hold no fears, they have key personnel out,and have to juggle FA Cup,CL,and PL in a hectic schedule.

And my 200/1 for a top half finish would be looking very promising....

Any one else think Duffy was offside when free kick was taken. It travelled a long way so the lino's job was made harder by the position of the placed ball and watching the line up in the box.

I'm with you 'Hibsclaret' looking for a top 10 finish because on 12th Jan before we kicked-off at home to Fulham, I also put a £5 bet at 200/1 on the Clarets to finish 10th or above. I haven't started planning how I am going to spend the £1,000 winnings just yet but if the current forms continues...... :D

Whilst not a matter of decisions going against us we need to remember that Fulham 'scored' our two goals in their defeat on the Turf. Both of them were not direct deflections or as a result of horrendous defending. A 1-0 defeat for us was on the cards from a fantastic bit of skill on their account. Perhaps this in one 'to balance,' we would have been a bit adrift without those own goals. Two own goals is very unusual in any game.

Only one own goal because one of them was deemed to be going in and was given to Hendrick. Anything is possible in football anyway as has been seen with out last few matches. Some decisions go your wayand others don't --it has always been the same.
