Hannover 96 .... update
Browsing over the papers, just noticed that Hannover 96, our friendly, fun loving, German chums are 2nd bottom of the Bundesliga, with 14 points from 21 games, and 5 points adrift from safety !!
In the immortal words of the recently departed Windsor Davies, " Oh dear, how sad, never mind ! "

Ha, there's me thinking it was the number of their fans banged up by Lancashire police's longest on-going enquiry.

Re: Hannover 96 .... update
That statement that Lancashire police put out was a smoke screen to cover up the culprits that caused it
They was never going to arrest anyone from the Hannover club they had to justify things by arresting a few of mouthiest lot
They were just glad to see the back of them to much time and effort.

Re: Hannover 96 .... update
They won this weekend v the other bottom 2 club Nuremberg - so some hope for them as they are only 1 point behind third bottom team (4 behind 4th bottom) and only 2 go down.
Hope they go down, though, it's difficult to find anything to like about them after their "friendly" visit to TM.

Let it go.
Are you really bothered enough to want a club relegated?

So almost 2 years after the Hannover game and a number of deleted posts for suggesting otherwise, exactly how many Hannover fans were prosecuted for the disorder we saw at the Turf? Was it, as I suggested it would be, none?

Re: Hannover 96 .... update
The third bottom Club ( 16th out of 18 ), plays the Club that finishes 3rd in the Bundesliga 2, in a two legged play off, to decide who will play the following season in the top flight .... that was what I meant by 5 points from safety ..LeadBelly wrote:They won this weekend v the other bottom 2 club Nuremberg - so some hope for them as they are only 1 point behind third bottom team (4 behind 4th bottom) and only 2 go down. It isn’t none but it’s nowhere near what it should have been. Still being investigated believe it or not but I think it’s been a balls up of an investigation.Herts Clarets wrote:So almost 2 years after the Hannover game and a number of deleted posts for suggesting otherwise, exactly how many Hannover fans were prosecuted for the disorder we saw at the Turf? Clarets4me:
OK- I'd forgotten they did that in the Budesliga, I think that's quite a good system. I have a recollection it was tried briefly in England, I lived up in Co Durham 1983-88 and have a memory of seeing a Sunderland play-off game when they finished 3rd bottom of the 2nd tier (having recently come down from 1st) and lost out to a team placed 3rd/4th (5th?) in the tier below.
I think they were quickly back up to the 2nd tier though- hopefully they'll do the same again.

Re: Hannover 96 .... update
I've just looked it up, and for the first two seasons of the play-offs, ( 1986/87 & 1987/88 ), the side that finished 4th bottom of the top flight were paired with those that finished 4th, 5th, & 6th, over a two legged semi final and a two legged final. In the first season, Charlton stayed up under the arrangement, and in the second, Middlesborough replaced Chelsea, who they beat following a replay, after the two legged final ended up a tie.LeadBelly wrote:Clarets4me: OK- I'd forgotten they did that in the Budesliga, I think that's quite a good system. This system was used for those two seasons only, as the top flight reduced from 22 teams, down to 21 in 1987/88, and 20 in 1988/89 ....

Their crimes against fashion were unforgivable and I still yearn for justice, so that my children and my children's children never have to live in a world where sweaty overweight men can wear man-bags and display Stone Island tats
Re: Hannover 96 .... update
At a time of funding cuts I would be annoyed if, and its a big if, this was still being investigated.
