Couldn’t for the life in me fathom why any of the family would want to take part in the documentary, particularly the parents.

The dad’s story was bad enough, but the mother’s????

Ridiculous story. Also amazed that the parents had the gall to appear in it. The documentary was pretty average though, the stories of each of the family members was very polished.

Without wanting to give too much away, when their daughter didn't come back from her trip, the parents left it a few days before contacting the authorities. Then, when they finally decided to do so they learned "The FBI was closed at the weekend".

It shocking to even think about it, especially knowing we live under extreme surveillance compared to the 1970's. Watch the Bundy Tapes too, there was a similar situation after Ted Bundy escaped. The police didn't share information with other states back then. So you could enjoy being a serial killer in one state and then pick up from where you left off after fleeing to another state - and no-one would know there was any connection.

In todays modern world, you couldn't be a serial killer now. Unless you offed lots of people in short amount of time, like in a killing spree of a day or so, You couldn't do lots over a sustained period of time now. Too much surveillance, intelligence and science these days.

Just watched The Innocent Man on Netflix. Superbly told true story which was John Grishams first non-fiction book. Well worth a watch but leaves you so angry at the American justice system and how bent these small towns are/were
