2 week break-help or hindrance

Post by tiger76 » Tue Feb 12, 2019 12:59 am

As per the title we have a clear 2 weeks till Spurs come calling, well they have a tough schedule balancing CL and PL fixtures,on the downside our momentum could be stalled and perhaps more importantly Harry Kane has a good chance of being fit.

The benefit for Sean is we can have a few days abroad and our own injury list might ease.

Spurs host Dortmund on the Wednesday, and after their visit to the turf,Chelsea and Arsenal lie in wait,it's probable Poch will have to juggle his threadbare squad which can only help the Clarets.

Think we'd rather be playing them tomorrow night the way the squad has been playing suggests the last thing we need is a break in impetus.

Hindrance in terms of keeping a run going; help for injuries.

I'd say a help.

Give the lads a nice reward and a break after a great upturn in form.
Allows us to get some extra bodies back fit and available, which for us can only help.
Luckily we haven't needed it, but the bench hasn't looked too strong in past weeks, but it'd be great to have some game changing options on the bench and competition for places again.

Spurs is a bit of a free hit now after the fantastic result at Brighton.

Help I think, two week break gets all our players with a chance to get fit with a spring in our steps.

Having a fully fit squad in the run in will be crucial

Help. Give McNeil a rest and time for JBG, Brady and Defour to get fit.

I think the bench without midfielders at the weekend suggests it could be a nice chance to get JBG back. Had he been on the bench and Cork/Westwood suffered a knock, Hendrick could have simply slipped into central midfield.

It may help for the rest, as for getting players fit, what is there to suggest that 2 weeks will get those three fit

Its not about glass half empty, but throughout this season, they seem to be injured after playing 20 minutes, and take ages to return, why should a 2 week break change this

I’d say neither. The next game comes when the next game comes. The team will be ready.

Think you've answered your own question there. It is because they won't be playing any games in that time to get injured again ;)

Spurs hoping Kane will be fit but he usually takes a couple of games to get up to speed.
Lunchtime ko could help.
We need a faster start than the Saints game where we never got going until Crouch came on.

It gives the likes of Defour, Brady and JBG the opportunity to pick up another knock somewhere and avoid doing what they are paid to do.
