It's amazing how the same people who wanted Liam Neeson locked up and career ended tother week are prepared to welcome ISIS lady back with open arms.

There is consensus on here, which is full of people all across the spectrum (from right wing loons to proper decent folk :-))

You can't ask for more than that.

Ah but Neeson is clearly a horrible racist, this girl just hates everyone who isn't a Muslim.

As I understand it, Neeson talked about his stupidity in an effort to show, well, how stupid people can be and has accepted full responsibility for his words and apologised for them.
This lass has apologised for nothing.
By all means, let her back in if it's her legal right - if she can make it back safely - and then put her on trial. I'm not sure what the tariff is for a convicted terrorist is but she probably won't be freed for a long time and she'll not see her kids again.

Not seen anyone on here coming out with such comments.

Rees-Mogg seems to be under the impression that Shamima Begum is a victim of grooming and says we should have some sympathy for her. She is not a victim of grooming. A groomer will always hoodwink to hide their true intentions. They will deceive and portray themselves in a brighter light. Can anyone honestly say that Isis hid their true intentions? Far from it. They glorified in their violence and hatred. Hooking in people who are turned on by such barbarity is not grooming. Isis hid nothing - it was all there for all to see.

At the risk of sounding racist (heaven forfend) I never knowingly go behind one in a checkout queue for the reasons you say and also because they often start fumbling around when paying. I think they want to haggle.

Bizarre, at the risk of sounding ageist, I never go behind old people at supermarkets because they take forever. And then finding their purse when they get to the till! Who does that?

If you're lucky you'll become one Lancs, don't think the purse is obligatory though.

Not so sure your analogy is valid bud. I don't think she was groomed as such, she was a totally willing recruit who, as far as we know, was pro-active in seeking out ISIS and making a great effort to join them.

Incidentally as well, as bad as grooming is I still believe those who are 'groomed' are a little on the stupid side as they don't live in a vacuum and know it goes on. I am still bemused as to how they let themselves get taken in. Young girl gets approached by a couple of guys and gets offered free booze and/or money then gets taken around to their mates house where they are all, coincidentally, males and it doesn't start any alarm bells ringing? I despair I really do.

According to that Mogg fella, we've no choice but to accept her if she manages to get to a consulate. She's a british citizen and we'd breach international law if we rendered her stateless by not accepting her.

No mate, that is women not old people. Observe a woman next time you are in any sort of queue to pay and they don't even start looking in their bag for their purse until AFTER they have been given the price. Infuriates me no end. Some years ago I used to make a bus journey to work and a woman with two kids got on at the same stop every day and went to the same destination, and every day she got on the bus, told the driver where she was going, he told her the cost and only then did she look for her purse, all this despite the fact that she bloody well knew, every day, how much it would cost. Aargh!!!

It's fine - I'm okay now - honest.

Do we have an extradition treaty with Syria ? If not why can’t she be dealt with by their government as an enemy of their state. She is not British regardless of what her documents say.

Unfortunately that is true - but it doesn't stop us from putting her on trial for treason then taking the child into care, making sure it never sees it's mother again.

She stopped being a british citizen when she left to join an anti british group. If we can brexit and stand up to Europe we can stand up to International law. Let her reap the rewards of her decision and learn what a condom is for.

To want to fight the British but want your child to be British and have the benefits that go with that. How can this be allowed ? She’s an f ing disgrace and should never be allowed to set foot in this country again and certainly not as a free woman. The problem is in jail she will be spreading all her vile rhetoric.

For me, as on a hundred other issues, it boils down to rights and responsibilities. You can't have one without the other.
She forgot her responsibilities when she went, so she no longer has any rights in this country. The child even less so.
Sad as it is we owe her nothing, people need to accept the consequences of their actions.

Our judicial system is a joke, so she won't be in prison for long enough to spread anything. She'll be out in 3 months and then us tax payers will be buying her a house and giving her benefits due to her being unemployable.

She should be made an example of. A warning that anybody who leaves, doesn't ever come back.

Petitions are a way of people to let their feelings known. Sort of like an unofficial referendum if you will. The result doesn’t give the government a mandate to carry out the wishes of the petition, but it will get them discussing it. It lets parliament know there is a subject out there that the general public feel strongly about. It’s quite democratic really.

Of course, you aren’t a fan of democracy in action are you? ;)

Calm down guys!

The reason I have asked twice is the petition for a 2nd referendum and a whopping 700,000 people on a march was completely ignored. And for balance one for the reintroduction of the death penalty.

Why should this one be any different?

There was a national public vote beforehand for Brexit. There wasn’t for returning ISIS fighters or for the abolition of Capital Punishment.

Because there wasn’t a vote on whether we should allow religious genocidal maniacs back into the country.

We had a vote about leaving the EU, and millions voted for it. Now 700,000 march having a whinge about democracy taking its natural course, and you see parity?

Mmmmmm....

IMHO this one will be ignored too. We have had the stock reply from govt. they will look at it. Yeah, course they will.

But there was a petition about it with a lot more signatures about it.

But a lot of people appear to think we should listen to this petition, but not that one. Ditto the capital punishment one.

All I'm trying to do is to highlight that a petition is a complete waste of time (and the blatant hypocrisy of people who want to follow this one, but not that one)

As is marching to be perfectly honest.

Unless you are prepared to march and smash stuff up, then it won't budge people. As the far right prove every day by marching and causing trouble, making politicians to worry about what they might do (despite them already doing it) if they don't get their way.

Presumably the first two were girls and culled, then she went back to the designated womens' house to wait to be raped again by another sadistic nutter.

It's a truly abhorrent situation and now she wants to come back to a civilised country where her baby (if female) will be helped.

Clearly she shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a civilised society.

Re the petition under discussion (currently 130k+ signatures)
https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/231521" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This is an "official UK Government and Parliament petition; all it guarantees is that anything with over 100,000 signatures will be considered/discussed in parliament. There's no obligation for parliament to act on it at all. As already mentioned above, though, it does give MPs some feedback on the strength of feeling on issues.
100,000 isn't that many in the scheme of things cf the numbers of voters in this country (40 million ish?- so not even approaching 1%) but (my view) MPs are so far removed from "the man in the street" that they're probably surprised by what sort of issues generate involvement from a lot of people.

So lets make a sliding scale of punishments for her based on the public vote

- 1,000,000 - hung, drawn and quartered (inc unborn baby)
- 750,000 - beaten to death and then hung upside down from a lampost
- 500,000 - shot through both legs and dumped to die in the desert
- 250,000 - decapitated because she needs to know how ISIS victims feel

I don't want her back, have no interest if she lives or dies but I'm a bit uneasy about a lot of the sentiment shown on here.

Since when has Britain had the death penalty?

The reason I have asked twice is the petition for a 2nd referendum and a whopping 700,000 people on a march was completely ignored. And for balance one for the reintroduction of the death penalty.

Why should this one be any different?
That's the problem with petitions bud. They are very narrow. In a country with a population of around 60m 700k isn't a hill of beans really. And that figure of 700k has been questioned on many occasions. Let's not turn a good old agreement thread into yet another Brexit moan. We are talking about the rights and wrongs of letting a self-confessed terrorist back into the country to sponge on the state with her ill-gotten offspring, let's not have it highjacked by the remain argument.

Please.

Not for many years. I've just checked and it is now life imprisonment for treason. My mistake - sorry.

If we don't legally have to accept her back into the country then of course we shouldn't. If we do then we must. Pretty simple really.

Its not a Brexit argument, its an argument about the utter pointlessness of petitions
