The new Bob Lord book

Post by Rodleydave » Thu Feb 14, 2019 6:43 pm

Script sent off for editing. 137,000 words so it's big un.
390+ pages and 32 pages pics.
Some wonderful stories from people who worked for him.
And from the small boy who got onto the coach one day to wish him a Happy New Year and was told
GET OFF THIS BUS.
The truth of the Lowerhouse Land Deal and Jimmy Adamson's involvement.
His spats with folk such as Clive Thomas, Ernie Clay, Jimmy Murphy, Manny Cussins
How he got his turkeys in wartime.
How he used to sit int stand and shoot pigeons.
His predictions that have mostly come true.
many pics not seen before uncovered by Mike Smith and Burnley Civic Trust.

I remember in the early 60's a two page article in a football annual (wish I'd kept them all) and it had a full page black + white photograph of Bob.

The feature was call 'Lord Burnley' and I was so proud that anything associated with Burnley was in a national publication - I must have re-read that article hundreds of times!

He was revered and feared in equal measure!

I do hope those two parts aren't related

:( Not in time for father's day then. Looks like my old man is getting his usual bottle of whiskey then.
