Re: THIS WEEK
Shame the format made for entertaining viewing, and the one thing this country needs right now is some lighthearted humour.
Often politicians let their guard down on these more intimate shows and actually tell the truth, unlike QT where it descends into a baying mob of yah-boo politics.
I can understand the beeb's decision though,Andrew Neil made the show his own,and anyone following in his footsteps would struggle.

Re: THIS WEEK
Yes big shoes to fill, a smart bloke is Neil, with a wicked sense of dry humour.. he gently takes the **** out of all his guests.
Re: THIS WEEK
Will miss it but it had got cringingly poor watching those journalists dress up, act and sing or whatever the hell they were trying to do.
I find Neil a bully these days - undoubtedly a very knowledgeable guy who I enjoy ripping politicians apart but some of his spats with other people have become a bit embarrassing

Re: THIS WEEK
Andrew Neil should have been given Question Time. Giving it to Fiona Bruce instead is just ridiculous.

Re: THIS WEEK
It is likely that Neil has had a long standing wrangle with the Beeb over scheduling and they refused to move it from the midnight slot, prompting his decision.
Since the new Head of News took over last year, replacing the guy who used to be the Times Editor, there has been a purge of the older middle of the road presenters - Andrew Neil has been gradually reduced to 1 programme a week, John Humphries is on his way, Eddie Mair has gone. The trend has been obvious so no surprise Neil has quit.
