Chelsea v Man Utd

Post by DustyBawls » Mon Feb 18, 2019 3:47 pm

It's on BBC One, kick off 7.30pm.

Will you be watching? I can see extra time needed.

Hallelujah, a football thread.
Yep I'll be watching Dusty. You could be right about extra time but who will win ? I'm going for Chelsea.

Man Utd in a televised FA cup game?

That's a novelty

Wait and see if any players are rested but, assuming they each field about the best teams they can, I expect a home win. I'll start watching it but if it's a borefest after 20-30 minutes, I can find something else to do.

Just looked at the odds with my bookie: 21/20 home, 13/5 draw, 14/5 away - so Chelsea reasonably strong favourites there.

I wonder if Sir Alex will be in attendance, and if so, will there be a shot of him sitting in the crowd?

Chelsea having their almost annual wobble at the moment and talk of changing manager, players not getting along or liking the system etc.

United on the counter are decent but missing the pace of Martial and Lingard will show their limited options (pace wise).

Will be interesting to see how both teams react, personally can see United nicking it 2-1.

I think they just use "archive footage" now at every Utd game and most of the time he's actually on the beach somewhere warm.

I'll be out playing footy, I'll check the scores when I get home.

They reckon Sarri could be out by the end of the week if he loses the next 3 games.

Just shown Sir Alex in his seat, for all those Fergie spotters. It's actually a good game, both teams playing attacking football and going for it. Chelsea just shading it at the moment.

If he's still in charge when we play Chelsea we have a real chance of a win!

Looks like Zidane will probably be in sooner, rather than later though.

Sarri has to go.

Was a bizarre appointment. Chelsea have enjoyed a decade and a half of almost constant success through ruthlessness and signing winners. He values playing “beautiful” football over winning, and hasn’t won a trophy in his career. Doesn’t look like he’s about to start either. Still in the EL, so they should make it quick.

Smashing match. Sarris obsession with Jorghino is going to cost him his job. It’s obvious to a blind man Kante is far better suited to that role. However good he was for Napoli he is bang average in the PL.

Jorginho getting exposed in the Prem is good for the league. Can’t have a player like that with zero physical presence shining - keeps England’s reputation for being the most athletic European league intact.

Best away support in the country United for me. Always loud and a great repertoire of songs compared to the monotonous 4 or 5 songs we tend to sing on repeat endlessly.

I think this game has been a good example of how VAR should be used. A quick look, quick assessment then get on with it. Miles better than in the world cup

As much as I don’t disagree with that there’s far more to Chelsea’s averageness than that. Not getting a player within 30 yards of Higuain seemingly more of a problem to me.

Some strange decisions from Sarri tonight. 2-0 down in a cup tie and doesn’t try to change the system at all.

Not a dig at Jorghino, a super player in European paced football. More of a dig at Sarri for not seeing the obvious or for his stubbornness
