Am I an alcoholic?

Post by DustyBawls » Tue Feb 19, 2019 10:14 am

I cracked my first can open at 10am. I'll keep cracking them open until I fall over.

However. I'm also working.

Not regularly Rick. I drank yesterday, but didn't drink over the weekend, nor last weekend. I also did dry January. I drink very randomly.

'most likely' - you doubted yourself immediately after typing the beginning.

I don't know you and so can't be 100% sure hence the "most likely" at the end.

Do you often personally abuse people you don't know?

Are you a Bus Driver/Taxi Driver/Fork Lift Truck Driver/Airline Pilot? Are you in charge of a Nuclear Submarine?

Just asking, for a friend.

I knew you were kidding when you mentoned friend.

I'm a bus driver, but don't start until 3pm to pick the kids up from school. If I stop drinking at 2pm, I'll be right as rain by 3.

If you’d have said 9am my answer would be yes. However 10am is perfectly normal. Carry on and enjoy yourself.

Alcoholism is often misinterpreted as volume of liquid drunk - rather than the dependency on the effects of the alcohol.

If you drink sporadically for enjoyment then the amount becomes somewhat irrelevant.

If you NEED to drink then you're entering the realms of alcoholism - even if that need is, in some eyes, a relatively low amount

I never need to drink. No chance I'd have done dry January if that was the case. If somebody said I could never drink again, I'd find a way to enjoy my life without it. But sometimes - just sometimes - being drunk is better than reality.

The fact that you are asking the question suggests that you already know the answer!

Not really. There was a discussion on here not so long ago and nobody could agree on what the term actually meant.

I only drink on two occasions.

1:- When it's my birthday
2:- When it's not my birthday

Getting bladdered every day for 30 odd years got me through the winless run against 'stards. I barely touch the stuff now. Prefer wine.

They are being cracked open at quite a reasonable pace. I had a blood test earlier - not sure they appreciated it when Stella came out.

I laugh at people when they say only women can multitask.
