Re: Why I believe we will not be relegated
We are a mid-table Premier League side. When we play to our strengths and play with a plan (ie. balls into the channel rather than to the head of Vokes) we are comfortably better than a good number of sides in the division. It's just a shame that this side didn't turn up for the first half of the season and the reason why can't by pinned down solely onto the return of Heaton or even playing in Europe.
I was certain that at the very least we'd give Spurs a game today, sure you always think that you are likely to lose due to the number of match winners in these sides but I knew we wouldn't roll over. I expect the same on Wednesday and would be surprised to leave Newcastle with 0 points.
I'm finally very relaxed about surviving relegation this season. We were nailed on relegation fodder on Boxing Day.

Absolutely. However, I too was convinced we would be relegated after the Boxing Day debacle, but I still had ultimate faith that SD would turn things around and get us straight back up from the Championship. I have to say I’m pleasantly surprised that things have progressed the way they have, and it looks like we may well miss a transient year in the second tier. In SD we trust.

Personally I think that balls to the head of Vokes was quite a good scheme. The problem was that we did it too often when Vokes wasn't actually playing.Rileybobs wrote:We are a mid-table Premier League side. At least one club won’t pick up 30 points this season. I believe we’re 6-8 points away from certain safety.

Our strength is we set up to survive.Rileybobs wrote:We are a mid-table Premier League side. When we play to our strengths...
We will go down when we tell ourselves we're a stable mid table team so often we stop playing and buying like we're relegation fodder. See Stoke, WBA, Swansea, Villa etc
