Not bad company
The form Barnes has shown these last few years is incredible. Look at the company he is sharing there with his goals.
To think he was a budget signing to back up Ings and Vokes.
He has improved year on year. Won over the doubters (I was one of his biggest). And is now a vital, almost irreplaceable first teamer.
Some upturn for what was once a hardworking but somewhat limited grafter.
Over 200m worth of players. Two brazil players. Two man utd players. Two premier league winners. And he doesnt look out of place on the list.

Oh. And Wood not far behind. Who complements him perfectly.

Not sure if this has been mentioned on a thread I haven't read but.... the Austrian manager (+ Gareth Southgate) was said to have been at TM today- he must've been impressed.

Barnes should be holding out for an England cap, surely?

Barnes is a superb footballer. Ruffles feathers, throughout the match. Very swift to get a shot off.scores goals with head and feet. Assists the team and his partner, with his work ethic. Can pass the ball with close control.

Good to know that you could displace Arnautovic; perhaps you could get a nice warm seat on the Hammers' bench too .The Austrian manager would probably pick me!

Re: Not bad company
One of the most underrated players in the Premier League - probably because of his unfashionable name and appearance. His technique is fantastic and he would improve most sides outside the top 6. Only Martial and Rashford in that list with a better goals to minutes ratio, and I'm sure most Burnley fans would agree that goalscoring isn't even Barnes' best attribute.

There was a poster on here who used to absolutely loathe Barnes; Walton i think. Wonder if he has been won over too?

Don't forget he's had to come back from a serious knee injury.

Get the impression he isn't particularly bothered about playing for Austria after seeing some of his interviews.

as are Brighton fans - they have been arguing about it virtually since his debut - this thread started 8 years ago and is still being added to by both sides of the argument with over 20 posts on it todaytim_noone wrote:I'm still undecided on Barnes tbh.

Re: Not bad company
Not just the goals he's been getting.
He really is a nightmare to play against, always in their faces, getting up their noses.

Re: Not bad company
Unreal when you look at value for money of those listed.
Of the two with better goals to minutes ratios one cost circa 40 million and the other is on 100k plus per week.
Reckon we have the best value strikers in the prem.

We used to marvel at Diego Costa when we had/have one of our own under our noses. Few prem defenders will like playing against him.

On the train to Devon Friday night and my son had a Burnley tracksuit top on. Bloke asks if Ashley Barnes still plays for us. Certainly does. Never understood why Plymouth let him go for nothing says the bloke.
