Fine margins

Post by Silkyskills1 » Sun Feb 24, 2019 11:07 am

So close to a calamitous start yesterday. Could have been a goal down in a matter of seconds; could have been a man down in a matter of seconds. A scary moment right at the beginning of the game.

I thought the message board had been too positive - thanks for bringing back a little bit of balance.. albeit I recall the hospital pass, I don't recall the incident being worthy of any of those things you mention.

The only shouts for a red card were against spurs - Kane I think it was.

I'm talking about Tarks' poor control when he received the ball from the kick off. Happened so quickly.

Yes I remember that but don't remember thinking it was even a card never mind something that would lead to a goal...

Well, his control was poor and Son was on it in a flash. Fortunately Tarks' got to the ball a fraction of a second before him. Had he not done then the outcome might have been very different.

You could say that about every tackle in every game.

Fair enough but it was a mistake after probably two seconds of the game that we got away with.

I’ve gotta admit, I’m struggling to get the point here.

There are a few mistakes at various points of every game. Why is this minor one being singled out as being worthy of its own thread?

Is it because the 89 minutes and 55 seconds that followed were exemplary?

How about this.... Heaton let Harry Kane score. Nearly cost us two points that.

Is that more or less relevant than a pass that was underhit?

How about Ashley Barnes’ dad turned left instead of right and never met the future Mrs Barnes who gave birth to Ashley? Then he wouldn’t have scored yesterday?

Just an observation, that's all. Didn't realise that posts had to be 'worthy' or subjected to Spanish.Inquisition examination.

If we had lost your observations would have been Valid. Fine margins indeed so let's all enjoy the win! And please let those fine margins favour Burnley when we play Arsenal!

It's a good point , sd always bangs on about the margins , I think the Heaton save from kane was the turning point had that gone in I don't think we would have got anything from the game ,

I'm with you Silkyskills on this one. Son harried us quite a bit during the game (amazing energy) and this was a close call.
Surprised we didn't have a blocker at the kick off to delay his close down.

pretty sure Dyche would have mentioned it to him, we absolutely could have been a goal down or down to 10 men due to his first touch.

Son is a really exiting player...and a handful. he was nullified yesterday IMO and Ericsson was made to look ordinary. It wasn't by accident but attention to detail dictated by SD and those "fine Margins"

It certainly was a moment of the game where a number of possibilities could have occured but fortunately it didn't affect us.I think because it was right from kick-off is why I have referred to it.
