Re: Bolton
That is like Tesco agreeing to pay some of Asda's staff wages. BFC is a business and BWFC is a rival business that has been run in an unsustainable manner for years. I feel for the people who haven't been paid but they have been feeding at a trough that has been artificially filled for many years. I have worked for 2 companies that went bust without being able to pay their last wages and received only a fraction of what I was owed each time - eventually - and no-one in rival companies offered to pay my wages!!!ecc wrote:I think our club and other local clubs should follow Preston's lead and help pay the staff.

Why should other football clubs pay them?ecc wrote:I think our club and other local clubs should follow Preston's lead and help pay the staff.
Why not ask BP or Shell to pay them? After all, they turn over £billions compared to our mere £millions.
As the hotel is in administration too, perhaps Travelodge, Premier Inn and other hotel operators could pay the staff of the Bolton Whites Hotel.
While we're playing Santa Claus, let's pay Bury's staff too. And Macclesfield's. Notts County could do with a bob or two. Accrington could do with a new pitch, so let's give them some cash too.
Or perhaps BFC could make a donation to the 1,000-odd people made jobless by Jamie Oliver's restaurants going pear-shaped.

I agree. Perhaps we should get some other mug to pay for our corner stands, bit like Leicester did with their ground!ecc wrote:I think our club and other local clubs should follow Preston's lead and help pay the staff.

I think we should help them out by taking their best young players off their hands for minimal compensation payments.ecc wrote:I think our club and other local clubs should follow Preston's lead and help pay the staff.
It might sound harsh, but when it comes to competitive football finance, charity begins and ends at home.
Edit
It wasn't long ago that Bolton demonstrated their local solidarity by stealing away Owen Coyle and all of our backroom staff. A kick in the nuts that got us relegated. In hindsight, taking Coyle did us a huge favour and marked the beginning of their downward journey, but they certainly weren't looking to help us out.

Yes, you may. Because the money we're talking about (to pay the Bolton staff) is almost certainly very little to the money we get from being in the PL. If, as rumoured, PNE are helping then I think (but I realise most people will disagree) BFC should also help the unpaid staff at a local club. It's not the staff's fault they're going unpaid and they are not a direct competitor.

apparently the hotel isn't part of these bids - that aspect of the business is with a different set of administrators presumably because the Davis family have no financial link to it and it was they who called the admin on the club - this is what can happen when you hive off part of your club into a separate company.

We put domestic rules in place for when a player under 23 moves from one club to another at the end of his contract which entitles the club he’s leaving to a compensation fee. If the clubs can’t come to an agreement then it goes to a tribunal.claretburns wrote:Isn't it significantly cheaper for a player to move on a "free" outside the country he currently plays in? But if the player moves to a club in another country it is a minimal amount as set by FIFA.

Nevermind, I've done some mooching about.
Bloke called Michael James is the front man, net worth of £10 million ish apparently, they've been chatting about him on some Bolton forum earlier this year, when he was previously linked.
They've somehow managed to connect him with the owner of Home Bargains who's worth a few billion and they'd like him to be the money man naturally.
Going to be interesting to see how this pans out.

Bassini had his chance well before everyone else and he blew it, largely because he couldn't produce any credible proof of funds, largely because he hasn't actually got any funds. (Just a big mouth and an even bigger ego...which can only take you so far, even in football!!) I'm no great lover of Bolton, but I hope this deal comes off because rather like the Blackpool fiasco, you have to feel sorry for the genuine fans who have been sold down the river and you don't want to see any club forced out of existence, especially due to dodgy/incompetent ownership.Chester Perry wrote:Administrators have named the preferred bidders as Football Ventures
