Re: Bolton
What Bolton did this week was shocking. They've pointed to the safeguarding of their young players, creditably, but they should have an experienced squad available to play.
League One has descended into farce now this season and I don't think there is a way out of it for the league unless they drop both Bolton and Bury and play it with 22 clubs.

As has been posted earlier, say a wealthy foreigner buys them, clears the debt buys a decent bunch of players and plays the postponed games and wins it is not fair.

Re: Bolton
As posted earlier, they can’t buy until Jan. By then they will be too far adrift for any decent players to want to sign for them. Sad but a spell non-league, with Stockport, will do them good.bfcjg wrote:As has been posted earlier, say a wealthy foreigner buys them, clears the debt buys a decent bunch of players and plays the postponed games and wins it is not fair.

Re: Bolton
They can loan-with-agreement-to-buy until 2nd September. I think there is a limit to how many players they can borrow, but it's quite a few.

Re: Bolton
Yeah, the transfer window is still open for Leagues One and Two
Re: Bolton
Which stinks as they'll be half a dozen sides who have been able to play against ( let's be honest ) a severely weakened team.
What happens if they get taken over and become a much stronger force, taking more points off teams or keeping the whollopings down.
Imagine supporting a side that goes down at the expense of say Teanmere by a point, or even a goal after Tranmere bashed a bunch of kids 5-0, and your side face a much stronger team.
Sack both them and Bury off, play the league with 22, let them get their house in order in time for league 2 next season, if they cant do that by say May 2020, then they need to just start again at whatever level needs be. Like Wimbledon did.

Re: Bolton
Why is the proposed takeover taking so long ?
Have the "new" owners no money ?
The administrators will know exactly what debt is involved by now, there can't be any grey areas holding the deal up.

Players and officials can get heavily fined for bringing the game into disrepute. How much should EFL fine themselves for this farce.

Re: Bolton
I would think no player in his right mind would leave a club who are paying them to join this shambles and the risk of no payment, they might get some free agents who want to play and will take a chance on maybe getting a wage of some sort but I still think the player would have to be pretty desperate.
there needs to be a major rethink on the fit and proper test as it clearly isnt working could they not have a system where they buy the club but also have to put a lump sum of say 1m into some sort of escrow account until they show the club is being run properly and at least breaking even or they sell the club. if they let the club go down the pan like Bolton Bury are they lose that money and it is used to settle as much of the clubs debt as possible

Pure point that a couple of weeks ago when Bassini had the court injuction to stop the sale the administrators said it was on the brink of completion, court order removed, 2 weeks later and still no sale. Can no one in these situations be bothered to tell the truth?

Having Bolton and Bury plus a struggling Accrington, at the bottom of league 1 is not good for the North West.
I hope they 2 financially bereft clubs both survive and thrive in division 2 and Accrington recover and survive div 1.

Lowest ever attendance at the ground. You can see why Doncaster are not happy. Both Tranmere & Ipswich have had 5-0 wins against them but Donny didn’t get the opportunity. Re: Bolton
League statement tonight on Bolton
The EFL Board remains concerned at the ongoing delays at Bolton Wanderers that have prevented the conclusion of the various sale agreements and documents that would result in the Club’s exit from administration.
Having been previously advised in writing on the morning of the start of the season that the deal was all but agreed and only awaiting completion signatures, there has been constant contradictory information and no finalisation of the deal.
The current situation cannot continue and the time to resolve the current impasse is now fast running out. Whilst it is understood as recently as yesterday that the parties were once again in a position to complete the formalities, there appears to be additional frustrating delays that are only serving to have a negative and detrimental impact.
The EFL urges all parties to communicate and come together to find the necessary and final solutions so that Bolton Wanderers can start to plan for its long term future and end months of uncertainty for all those associated with the Club, in particular the players, staff, supporters and the local Bolton community.
If a successful conclusion to a sale is not found or there are no credible plans for the Club to continue the season in administration by the planned Board meeting at 5pm on Tuesday 27 August 2019, then the EFL Board will consider lifting the suspension on the Notice of Withdrawal of the Club's membership of the League which was issued when the Club entered into administration in May 2019.

Re: Bolton
I think it is all but over for Bolton. Similar club to Bstards and any investor will look and think do I really want to lose 15 million a year despite the tax breaks ? Bolton at best will be in league 2 next season hardly a brand to be connected with.

When it comes to putting £ notes on the table, it just doesn't happen when wide boys are involved.
They are spending all of their time trying to arrange loans, debt arrangements, leases and the like.
Should never have been allowed to start the season.

Would be nice to see the whole circus properly asset-stripped before too long.
Just to make sure there's no more than a burnt out husk remaining.
I'll wish them well when all their debts have been paid in full, and they are demonstrably living within their means....not before. Until then they can rot away down with the dead men.

Club selling match tickets at£20 adult to watch a mainly Under 18 team.
No season tickets yet issued so many season ticket holders are staying away.
Nixon is saying that a new bidder with considerable funds wants both hotel and club but are being blocked by Administrators .
Anderson and his lawyers are also making deal tough to complete.
With all this happening Nixon is saying liquidation will not happen
Very complex matter

As much as you have a certain amount of sympathy with Bolton the integrity of the league should be paramount and when you have them blatantly cancelling fixtures and then playing fixtures in which they have no chance of winning, the integrity of the league is compromised.

The EFL are like one of those parents you see constantly telling their kid that this their last chance and they'll be in trouble if they do it again. When it clearly isn't their last chance and obviously nothing ever happens to the kid.bob-the-scutter wrote:On Sky just now, takeover collapses.

Re: Bolton
Not good at all. They’re a great football club with a very proud history. They’ve not looked after themselves financially (this applies to scores of clubs over the last twenty years) and Coyle aside, unless you have a particular personal vendetta against them, then that’s pretty poor form. This could so easily have been us. We overspent to get into the Premier League...not by much but we bet the ranch. We have no idea where things might’ve gone. It takes one season of bad management; one poor boardroom decision and the dominoes can start tumbling. I’d want the backing of local football fans if this ever happened to us. We need to get off our proverbial high horse.

Re: Bolton
The EFL probably had a very brief glance at Bolton's position and thought - "well, they'll probably be ok" - now they have had chance to look at in more detail and from many different angles they think they are probably wrong - but as they haven't clearly and obviously got it wrong that first decision will have to stand.

Bolton more than Bury have damaged the integrity of League One this season and I don't know how on earth that gets resolved if they continue to play this season.
