To be fair, Jerome Anderson convinced Venkys to buy a puppy. Then, him and Steve Kean proceeded to kick the living crap out of it. Now Venkys are stumping up for all the vet bills.Chester Perry wrote:Andy holt described the situation perfectly today

Re: Bolton
Statement today from the Bolton players:
With deep regret we have decided not to fulfil our remaining fixtures until we are paid. The long running financial crisis at our club has been well documented. As has the fact that we, the playing staff, have yet to receive our March salaries.
Five of our coaching staff are also yet to be paid for March. We have endeavoured to continue our training and playing commitments during this extremely difficult time, with seemingly no resolution in sight.
We have been operating in a near untenable environment for some time and it is the accumulation of these issues that has resulted in our decision.

Re: Bolton
Cannot say I can disagree with the players. Seems Bolton’s main aim is to bluff there way along until a gene arrives to save them. Thank the league and PFA need to stop taking the easy options and do something to solve the problem and take some form of real action to resolve it instead of playing along for ease.

They will receive some criticism but from some quarters but you wonder what other options they have. I think they have been very patient and have made the correct decision.

and less than 2 weeks since EFL supremo Shaun Harvey said they had the funds to get to the end of the season - he really knows how to cover himself in glory doesn't he
Bolton's bank accounts have been frozen for weeks, even though there is money in them to pay wages apparently
Bassini still not shown any money and cannot get EFL approval until he has paid wages, he admitted that he agreed a deal with Anderson without knowing what the debts were (we know how that is going at Bury - and they thought they did know about all the debts).
Anderson was going to put then in administration the day the Bassini deal was announced (had a buyer lined up to buy them with a quick turnaround if it was done that way)
shambles - just fortunate from a league perspective that neither opponent is in the promotion/relegation mire or playing someone that is in their other remaining game

The best chance for the players to get paid is to refuse to play until they are paid. If they play out the season then they lose the only ace they hold. Hope they get there money and then terminate their contracts in the summer.

If they go ahead with this threat and don't fulfill their seasons fixtures, what will happen points wise?
Will the clubs who've got points off them have those points scrubbed?

Not sure on the rules and what flexibility the EFL have but with only two games left against teams who cant go up or down easiest would be to award 3-0 victory's to Forest and Brentford

Re: Bolton
The question is, “will you be able to complete your fixtures next season?”
They haven’t been able to this year, what will change next year, apart from the fact they’ll have even less income?
Out the league I’m afraid. Start again. There’s dozens of better run clubs non league that deserve a place more than them.

Was only today I saw a plaque in the bob lord stand that thanked the '500 club'. Fans, businesses and players who helped Burnley out of a 'perilous' financial situation. That was only 2004.

As for lessons to everyone, our board are well aware of the perils of bank rolling a club and don't do it, yet are castigated by idiots for not doing it
As for Bolton getting out of this mess, they won't until they smash their wage bill right down to something manageable, it needs to be about 50% of their incoming monies to give them a decent chance of stabilizing the club and clearing debts.
They might need to kick around in league 1 or 2 for a few years like Portsmouth, but the owner doesn't appear willing and the potential new owner appears just as dense if it's true he didn't know about all the debts.

It’s Anderson’s way of damage limitation. He can’t sell the club, but he can always blame the Football League for not letting this loon takeover.

Re: Bolton
Excuse my ignorance, but I have a question: If the Bolton players don’t complete the season, why would the previous opponents be deducted the points? In my mind that makes no sense, those games are ‘done and dusted’, so to speak. To award the 2 remaining opponents a 3-0 win and 3 points apiece makes sense.
As a footnote: This debacle really highlights the discrepancy between the ‘haves and have nots’ in today footy. Bolton are a storied club, such a shame they may be dissolved…………….Judas jumping ship not withstanding. Citeh, their not too far away neighbor, were dug out from the dirt by ‘nodding donkeys’, many things are amiss with todays game!

Re: Bolton
Because some clubs will have had an opportunity to lose to them which Bolton's remaining opponents wouldn't have if you simply awarded 3-0 wins based on nothing but the pure luck that they were due to play later in the season.exilecanada wrote:Excuse my ignorance, but I have a question: If the Bolton players don’t complete the season, why would the previous opponents be deducted the points? By removing all points gained by previous teams who played Bolton you ensure that the league table is based only on the football results, and on as little luck as possible.
In this example Forest and Brentford aren't playing for anything, but what if the opponents were Millwall and Sheffield Utd? Then the promotion and relegation race would effectively be off-field circumstances which had nothing to do with the clubs involved in the promotion and relegation battles.
It's a pretty common solution in various leagues across various sports. If one team can't fulfil their remaining fixtures then you remove all their fixtures from the league table.
