Totally different though in that those two clubs closed down. I don’t think I can recall a club being thrown out of the league previously.

So without reading the entire thread, if Bolton were to go down to non-league, can they still function and try and get their way back up?

Actually, I think I've found the answer to my own question, with what's happened with Bury:

Before Saturday's announcement, the EFL said if the Shakers were expelled the club would "be free to make an application to the Football Association to rejoin league competition further down the English football pyramid from season 2020-21".

They'd struggle to afford the ground unless it was subsidised by the council (like Stockport) or similar. They'd probably have to reform and play somewhere much smaller and although they'd probably have enough of a fanbase to progress up quite a few levels they'd probably lose enough support (and have the issues with the ground) to make it difficult to get back to the level they were at.

Nixon with a whole barrage of tweets that effectively says that there are two bidders for the hotel a "Manchester" guy as he refers to him and Football Ventures, whoever wins that is likely to get the club. Manchester guy is flush with cash and will pay up front - therefore deals with Administrators only, FV need to negotiate with Anderson and the Davies family Trust as they cannot pay upfront.

Without knowing anything about the Manchester guy I am pretty sure which scenario most including the EFL would prefer

Re the hotel at Horwich. I seem to remember reading that it made a loss of about circa £1 million per year and therefore had the opposite effect to that intended on Bolton's finances.

Let's hope the BFC board don't get any daft ideas about investing the spare dry powder and stick to what they know best.

Burnley will continue to be an oasis of common sense. Owen Coyle was so far off the mark when he said we were 10 years ahead of them

I don't think the figures for 2018 have been submitted yet, however the hotel company owned by Ken Anderson is in Administration and up for sale for £7 million.

The Hotel makes money every year
The years it shows losses were due to the Club owing the Hotel more money than the losses shown

very telling from the administrators.
"The Trust were forced to constantly compromise their position in the face of circumstances and demands which were wholly unreasonable. This says much about their determination not to allow Eddie's beloved Bolton Wanderers to suffer any longer at the hands of Ken Anderson.

"Sadly, Mr Anderson has used his position as a secured creditor to hamper and frustrate any deal that did not benefit him or suit his purposes. Thankfully, with the assistance of the Trust and others, we were able to overcome this obstacle.

‪How can an Administrator take a deal for the Hotel when it is not the best offer. The administrators roll is to get the best deal for the hotel. Surely this has to be against the law.

I really don't understand the sentiment from some that they'd rather see Bolton cease to exist. The significance of some John McGinlay shenanigans and the turncoats Owen Coyle/Steve Davis doesn't really add up to much stacked against a history tracing back to 1874, scoring the first goal ever at the Wembley stadium in the White Horse Final and fielding players like Nat Lofthouse just for starters. I'm delighted they haven't gone under.

TBH there's a hell of a long way to go for The Trotters yet. They're nailed on to be in League 2 next season, they need to sign some players sharpish (are they even allowed??) and once the dust settles on all this they'll be packing 4,500 into the University of Bolton ( ) Stadium and losing money hand over fist every match day (and those in between).

If the transfer embargo is lifted... there will be another chorus of “foul” teams amassing goal difference will cause major issues for those facing a “full syrength” squad later in the season.

Wow, what a statement from the administrators.

They really have laid the bones out to dry with that.

It really does amaze me sometimes how the likes of Anderson are allowed to prosper.

As the statement mentions, they have a long hard road in front of them but it's a better route than Bury's.

Well done the administrators.

They shipped 5 more at Gillingham today,i think that's the 4th match in a row they've been napped,i wonder who is going to go there,League 2 football is nailed on baring a Bournemouth style escape, and there must still be :?: marks over the state of the club longer-term.

I wonder if I can get odds for Bolton to be Champions of league 2 for the 2000-21 season, right now ...

If the good people of Bolton realise how close they came to losing their Club, get behind them, and the new owners are as they appear to be, they'll have a great chance ... 8-)

It'll be a hell of a non-league stadium, thats for sure. It's such a shame that Davis spent £190m just delaying the inevitable. It makes you wonder why such a business brain would have spunked so much money on such a worthless project when his losses went hurtling past £15-20m. I guess pricks like Horseface assured him it was money well spent. If he's not spinning in his grave he fuCKin should be.

Check out what happened at Leeds a few years ago when that obnoxious fat bas-tard Ken Bates bought them - that deal broke all the rules.
For what ever reason football seems to get to make up its own laws.

It is on the Magic Money Tree thread - but I will put it here for those that do not read that

Bolton's new owners begin their reign with loans amounting to £40m from two of their number at 4% interest p.a.

https://twitter.com/KieranMaguire/statu ... 8374417408" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

now then - does that strike you as a good idea?

4% is a great rate of interest for the club. I'm sure Flood's loans to BFC were at much higher rates of return. If they pay off all their debt with the cash then they will be on the road to sustainability - assuming they can get some more players!
