Advice on getting publicity

Post by gtclaret » Sun Feb 24, 2019 1:31 pm

I'm a novice at this. Just to point out that this is not a commercial adventure, just an interest.
I have designed a dance which I am calling Tanba which is Tango and Rumba combined. My partner and I will be demonstrating and filming it in a couple of weeks. I will post it on Facebook. A lot of people have agreed to like and share it and will ask their friends to do the same.
Has anyone on here got any other ideas on how I can spread the word. I must stress that this is not for financial gain

Local press quite like things they can just cut and paste into articles for their social pages and events. Create a press release. It is not uncommon for syndications to pick them up. I've had a bit of national coverage in the past doing this.

Create a fake story about someone else claiming they invented Rumgo first and they're threatening to sue you.

What if this thread is the beginning of that exact plan?

Twitter/Instagram/

with hastags etc etc

WARNING - A new dance though does seem to ask for people to take the absolute **** though. Social Media can be great but its also a problem in that regard

Great idea ....

Heres a plan for you once your new dance has been recognised.

Contact the BBC and their "Strictly" and "Bake Off" programming teams and pitch an new idea combining the beauty of Dance with cake baking ....

You can call it the "Macaroona"

Thanks for advice, as for people making fun or being rude, I expect this and would not be bothered.

You need a good backstory. A press release on how you came up with the idea for this new dance of yours. Explain how you and your wife were walking past a graveyard one dark night when you spotted some ghostly figures doing a dance that was like a Tango and Rumba crossover. When you got home, you came up with the idea of Tanba Dancing.

Or you could swap the ghostly figures for Space Aliens who have travelled thousands of lightyears to teach Earthlings their new dance - a dance called Tanba that will surely save humanity from itself.

You might get frontpage of the Sunday Sport. You might get sectioned. Either way, you might get some publicity, or ignored to the extent where people cross the road in order to avoid you. Good luck and keep dancing!

Radio Lancashire absolutely love that kind of thing, seriously. You need to call them.

Be warned though, I will sue because I did invent the Rumgo some weeks ago. It was behind the.....oh, sorry my little sweetheart, oh love of my life, didn’t realise you were stood behind me, I was just having a laugh with the lads.

I live in Surrey so I could call our local Radio Station, the problem is, which one, there are dozens, just a small touch of the button gets another station I have never heard of.

I T's suggestion of doing nude is not a bad idea I could post it on here, we could then all sit back and enjoy CT and the mods blowing a fuse
