When google fails UTC usually have the answer.

Mate, this is an acronym not many people will be aware of..not many people have had it. Only a select few. It means the employee has been underperforming and the company have decided to take some money back until he gets his act together.

I'll have a guess...Payment On Account Recovery? Have you previously had an advance? Or, it may be a correction of a previous manual or estimated payment when your payroll system was down.

UTC!

Sorry, to be clear this isn’t my wageslip, it’s a family member. As far as I’m aware, there’s been no previous advance although not long back from Mat Leave

I work for HMRC (but nothing to do with tax directly!) but POA usually relates to pension adjustments, if they have a work pension it probably relates to some form of top up repayment, especially at the end of the tax year.

Surely a call to their payroll department will explain in seconds.

I’m sure that will be the plan of action, I thought it would be nice to once again demonstrate that UTC is the font of all knowledge
