Conference question

Post by Tricky Trevor » Tue Feb 26, 2019 11:29 pm

Would anybody know how the promotion and relegation works between National Leagues N. & S. and the conference?
It is looking increasingly likely that 4 Southern teams will be relegated from the Conference. I am interested to know how they will select the two teams to go into National League N. Which already contains Kidderminster, Leamington & Hereford, from S. of Birmingham.

. believes that the teams furthest south in the northern league would be required to move to the southern division.

This is why they are building the HS2 line ---so that teams can get about quicker and fans can be ripped off even more :D

JB has it spot on. They would simply transfer two sides out of the NL South into the NL North for the following season.

The bottom 7 teams in The National League are Braintree,Maidstone,Aldershot,Havant & Waterlooville,Dover,Barnet and Boreham Wood .. Could well be 4 Southern teams going down ..

Conference South only has 4 teams from north of the M4/A12 line - Oxford City, Hemel Hempstead, St Albans and Gloucester. None of which are particularly north!

That was my thought. The balance of football has swung a long way South.
Oxford City are the obvious one and then it’s a fair hike from Blyth Spartans to any of the others.

That's one reason why step 3 has been changed to add a Midlands section. The isthmian league clubs had it all too easy compared to the likes of Oxford city, Worcester etc.
It didn't help that the northern league got added as a step 5 league when it was initially of step 4 quality.

Found this, which explains it all. I never knew what the Isthmian League was.
