Imagine being the person to take over a job/post previously held by Chris Grayling. You'd be hailed as an immediate success following the original 'King Midas in reverse'.

Keir "Captain Hindsight" Starmer only has to be capable of stringing a few coherent sentences together and given he followed Corbyn, has been hailed as the New Messiah by a few easily pleased Lefties.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 11:40 amImagine being the person to take over a job/post previously held by Chris Grayling. He very nearly brought the criminal justice system to its knees, before he was sacked and Michael Gove stepped in to undo most of the damage.
If Gove was the answer I really don't want to know what the question was.

Even with the PM fixing it for him he didn't manage to win.

Pretty embarrassing for Johnson and Grayling and maybe an indicator that there's starting to be some pushback on promoting incompetent sycophants.

Re: POLITICS—Chris Grayling
Lewis has been kicked out of the party and from what I can see so far (still a bit unclear) it will mean he cannot continue to take the role.
Edit: Looking now like he will keep the role so will be interesting to see how this and the Russian report plays out

Is this the top security job the top Civil Servant was 'resigned' for - so they can give it to some Government muppet?
Cummings really does run this country.

Ah! yes the Russian report when is that going to see the light of day? it seems it might be made public next week good.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 8:38 pmLewis has been kicked out of the party and from what I can see so far (still a bit unclear) it will mean he cannot continue to take the role.

I don't know a lot about Julian Lewis, but i'd rather have someone on the intelligence committee who isn't welded to number 10, and let's be honest if the alternative is Chris Grayling then it a no-brainer for me.
Why is this government so insecure about being held to account, that's precisely the role of parliament and these committees, if the government don't like it tough, they are not above scrutiny.

Only Grayling could manage to get beat in a rigged election.

Lewis' statement leaves some awkward questions for Johnson to bluster about, avoid and brush under the carpet.
I'm not a particular fan of Lewis but he's infinitely better qualified than Grayling for this role.

If I was picking sides in the school yard I'd let the other team have Grayling even if it meant they had more players on their side.

Re: POLITICS—Chris Grayling
It's becoming increasingly obvious just how incompetent Boris and co are,and aggi's post above also points out how devious they are as well. Yet listening to most views on this board, most posters voted for this discredited government seemingly because they actually believed the hate that was published in the Right Wing Tory press.
Boris has said that after Covid there will be an inquiry, but don't expect a public one. Most of the facts about how they've messed up will be conveniently hidden.

I would give them Gove first, with Johnson. You just would not want them, on your side.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 12:03 pmIf I was picking sides in the school yard I'd let the other team have Grayling even if it meant they had more players on their side.
Cummings....I would not let near the game. He can go play with himself in the corner.

Re: POLITICS—Chris Grayling
Russian interference was claimed by Johnson to be Bermuda Triangle stuff during the election. Now Raaaab is saying it definitely happened, but the briefings are that Putin was in league with Corbyn. It’s astonishing that a report kept buried for months and months and now about to be released has moved the government from the position that “it did not happen“, to “it did happen but by the opposition.”
I suppose we can look forward to more crazy accusations against opposition people, followed by a few dead cats for when the paper is actually released.

Playing with himself will lead to bad eyesight. Might stop him driving.

You can be pretty certain of two thing. There's unlikely to be any implication of Tory involvment and also that the report will be heavily redacted.AndrewJB wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 9:00 pmRussian interference was claimed by Johnson to be Bermuda Triangle stuff during the election. They won’t be able to redact all the millions they’ve received in donations from Russian oligarchs.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 9:29 pmYou can be pretty certain of two thing. There's unlikely to be any implication of Tory involvment and also that the report will be heavily redacted.

I have come to the conclusion that Cummingsky is Putin's man in the UK.AndrewJB wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 9:00 pmRussian interference was claimed by Johnson to be Bermuda Triangle stuff during the election. He spent a lot of time in Russia, learning his trade.
I think his mission is to weaken Britain and Europe, by extracting UK from fom Europe. The Russian's will have something on all those numskull tories, whose only interest in self wealth. Cummingsky will be able exploit that.
Every institution we hold dear, is being undermined. When you see who came up with the wheeze...it is comrade Cummingsky.
