Scoring first makes a huge difference to the way we play
Scoring first makes a huge difference to the way we play
Prior to the Newcastle game we were playing full of confidence, all the way back to our win against West Ham, and it seems obvious that if we take the lead or keep a clean sheet for long periods in the game we tend to go on a get a good result.
Even when Spurs equalised we played weith so much intensity that they couldn't cope.

Hang on , we scored first today !
We don't have the quality to get in behind teams once they sit deep , then we don't have the pace to get back against counter attacks , that's why it's important that we score first because we are excellent at defending in numbers .

We struggle against teams that defend deep and Dyche struggles to make changes early on to positively impact or to change a game.

How much earlier than half time would you expect a substitute?CoolClaret wrote:We struggle against teams that defend deep and Dyche struggles to make changes early on to positively impact or to change a game.

Recently it’s been around the 60/70 min mark which is pretty average in football. Today it was half time.CoolClaret wrote:How many times has Dyche made a change at half time?

I'd say pretty much every Burnley fan's one criticism of Dyche is that he makes subs extremely late on and usually are like for like changes, not a system change.bfccrazy wrote:Recently it’s been around the 60/70 min mark which is pretty average in football. Today it was half time.

Having a vociferous leader on the pitch would help, Westwood tries his best to lead by example but we are seriously lacking a captain in the middle of the pitch

You'd think Bardsley would be the ideal captain for the remaining matches.Vegas Claret wrote:Having a vociferous leader on the pitch would help

Agree but even he doesn't hand out bollockings etc which is a surprise given his experience - but out of them all then I would agree. It's not about who wears the armband though, we just don't seem to have a player on the pitch that turns to the others and motivates, says calm down or gees them up. I'm obviously only watching on the telebox so I might not see off the ball stuff obviouslySpijed wrote:You'd think Bardsley would be the ideal captain for the remaining matches.

Has anybody come out and said the Hendrick substitution was tactical and not an injury?
