Hill and Bowyer
Keith Hill sacked at Rochdale.
Gary Bowyer new boss at Bradford City.
(Fivelive)
Surprised at the Keith Hill one, seemed part of the dale furniture.

Re: Hill and Bowyer
I know they are struggling but I didn’t see Rochdale parting with Hill
Re: Hill and Bowyer
Dale fan at work was surprised as Hill still had 3 years I think it was left on contract. Last week the chairman had backed him publicly. He was annoyed that if they were going to get shut it should have been in January so the new manager would have more time and bring in some new players in. He was hoping for Bowyer to get the spotland job.ClaretTony wrote:I know they are struggling but I didn’t see Rochdale parting with Hill

I too think Bowyer will do a good job at Bradford.
Wasn't he doing okay-ish at Deadwood before the footballing geniuses in India intervened?

Re: Hill and Bowyer
Hill was fifth longest serving with Sean Dyche fourth. Pochettino now up to fourth.
Incredibly 47 of the 92 have now changed manager at least once since the end of last season.

Bowyer is a good manager. The job he’s done at Blackpool, under the conditions forced upon him, has been excellent. He also did a good job at Ew*od.

And wasn’t it Bowyer who brought all the kids through at Deadwood? He’s seemed a good manager to me. I was pleased when the fiddlers got shut.Lord Beamish wrote:Bowyer is a good manager. Lot of queries so I got it checked and confirmed by both Wycombe and the Football League.

Re: Hill and Bowyer
When it comes to charisma Bowyer makes Claude Puel look like Muhammed Ali. Suspect this hasn't helped him a lot in his career but seems to be a capable lower-division club manager.

Re: Hill and Bowyer
Don't think Bowyer will ever be out of work long - he has a reputation for over achieving against ridiculous odds. A quite amazing job at Blackpool. My Seasiders supporting friend maintains he was paying for the use of the training facilities out of his own pocket because of the way the club was being run.
It's a tough ask but can't think of anyone better equipped to rescue Bradford.
Not sure who Rochdale will go for. Bowyer would have been perfect for them. A decently run club by all accounts. A sensible appointment and a new manager 'bounce' and they might be OK - however looking at the bottom of League One, based on recent results, it seems unlikely Bradford and Rochdale can both keep out of the bottom four.

If you are counting caretaker then Ainsworth moves up.ClaretTony wrote:No, the top four are

If not then he’s behind Dyche.

Re: Hill and Bowyer
As I said, I spoke to both the League and Wycombe on this and they confirmed a date for his appointment which places him longer serving than both Howe & Dyche. He's behind neither.Bordeauxclaret wrote:If you are counting caretaker then Ainsworth moves up.

Re: Hill and Bowyer
I read an article a few months ago about Rochdale and that the club was now set up where any manager would be required to bring most of his players in via the academy. They suggested then that no matter what the results, Hill would continue for as long as he wished but that his successor would be promoted. I suspect things have changed since then.EarbyClaret wrote:Not sure who Rochdale will go for
Just looked at the betting and Ian Evatt (Barrow manager) is currently the favourite.

What date have they given you because it appears nobody told Ainsworth or the Wycombe Co-Chairman until November which seems a little odd.ClaretTony wrote:As I said, I spoke to both the League and Wycombe on this and they confirmed a date for his appointment which places him longer serving than both Howe & Dyche. The Wycombe chairman might also wish to look at his own club’s website.Bordeauxclaret wrote:What date have they given you because it appears nobody told Ainsworth or the Wycombe Co-Chairman until November which seems a little odd.

He probably did.
Here’s the story from the official site from the 8th November, which is of course after Dyche was appointed.

As I said, if you count caretaker manager he’s in front of Dyche. If not then he’s after Dyche.

Re: Hill and Bowyer
Over the past few seasons I have seen Rochdale have great success with their academy, including two of their youth players this season featuring for England. I believe I read in a game last season 10 of the 11 players all came through their academy, whilst players of League 1/2 level won't attract the interest of the larger teams in the area, still find it impressive that they keep regurgitating players on a consistent basis.ClaretTony wrote:I read an article a few months ago about Rochdale and that the club was now set up where any manager would be required to bring most of his players in via the academy. Along with the likes of Exeter in the lower levels they do well with youth.
There was also an interesting article recently about Brentford how they disbanded the youth teams a couple of years ago and now instead of playing in the development leagues they play against the big teams around Europe, think they beat Bayern Munich recently and there is a clear pathway through the development to the first team and beyond, for example Chris Mepham I believe is their first graduate since adopting the new set up to move on for a big fee.
