Tipped by supercomputer to be relegated
Talksport have announced a new update today of their 'supercomputer' predictions for final Premier League positions. Sadly we are shown in 18th place and relegated

Re: Tipped by supercomputer to be relegated
Quite different from what the bookies are saying (via their odds).
At the top: Man City well favourites at 4/11, Lpool 11/5
At the bottom: Hudd, Fulham, Cardiff , Saints, Burnley, Brighton.
Probably Alan Brazil doing the computer programming on his abacus.

Supercomputer? You could use a ZX Spectrum and get just as much sense. Either it uses random numbers, or else it predicts that the positions remain more or less the same. No other analysis makes sense.

Re: Tipped by supercomputer to be relegated
Good to see that artificial intelligence isn’t yet dominating humanity.
The Liverpool one is amusing because Klopp is already denying they are bottling it, and when those words come out of the mouth the damage is done. Fear of winning has set in (yes I think they will beat us on Sunday though).
Sounds like this “not so super computer” has Cardiff getting a win at the Turf (a huge ask for them) and getting more points than us in other games too? It’s possible of course, that’s why we love football.
There comes a time to simply trust the players, and we have better ones than Cardiff (and some other sides down there).

Re: Tipped by supercomputer to be relegated
Looking at their fixtures i thought the same, being generous and including them winning at the turf,i'd give 12 points maximum for their total,i they don't win at Turf Moor it's difficult to see how they finish above us and any others down there, they would have to get a big result against one of the top six, could happen we beat Spurs,Newcastle beat Man City but unlikely,as the big boys will be playing right to the wire for title and CL places.gtclaret wrote:Just where are Cardiff going to get the points from
I'd give them wins in the following games WHU (H) Burnley (a) Fulham (a) Palace (H),even with that run of wins they only end up on 37 points with a vastly in-superior goal difference to everyone else, they would have to make up 11 goals, ain''t happening,if we can't get a couple of wins and a draw or 2 from the remaining 9 games we'll deserve to be relegated.
Re: Tipped by supercomputer to be relegated
Cardiff are poor and getting worse. Having been thumped by Watford and Everton in their last two home games, I can't think of any reason why West Ham won't do the same. I suspect the odds on Cardiff reaching 31 points are evens at best. So we might already be safe.
I'll be surprised if we don't finish higher than 17th, but I'll eat my pants if we finish lower.

We will only be favourites to win against Cardiff out of our remaining games. A tough run in but the premier league is tough.

Re: Tipped by supercomputer to be relegated
I suspect that this has quite a lot to do with us struggling quite a bit in the last two games.
Nothing to panic about yet, but if I was looking for a team to play at home when I was desperate for points West Ham would be close to the top.
We've done so well to give ourselves a real chance of staying up, but we have to be on it for every remaining game.

Re: Tipped by supercomputer to be relegated
So, for those stressing about relegation, which of these teams' situations (points on the board and remaining games) would you prefer out if Brighton, Southampton, Cardiff, Fulham, Huddersfield or us?
Arguably you might prefer Brighton (seem to have an easier run-in) but as for Hudds, Fulham and Cardiff (esp now Sol Bamba out for the season and 5 points behind us) I think I'd prefer our position.
I'm not suggesting complacency, I'm just saying that it's very unlikely (but not impossible) that we'll go down.

Re: Tipped by supercomputer to be relegated
Cardiff have to entertain Palace and as we found out they are a super away side (7th in the away only table).
Seriously, lets just crack on, get the wins, and look forward to the summer.

Re: Tipped by supercomputer to be relegated
Given that barring miracles Huddersfield and Fulham seem to be gone that leaves only one place left. I think they forgot to input the data from Cardiffs current form. I genuinely believe the bottom three will be the bottom three at the end of the season. Okay we have put in two really poor shifts in the last two games but 8 unbeaten prior to that (and two of the draws would have been wins but for exceedingly poor refereeing) speaks a lot for where we are in the overall scheme of things. I think we need 5 points, tops, because the 'safe' level will be lower than normal this season. There are 3 really very poor sides in the PL this season - and we aren't one of them.

Now they have lost Bamba for the season that all but relegates them surely.....houseboy wrote:Given that barring miracles Huddersfield and Fulham seem to be gone that leaves only one place left. By the way, to anyone who reads this I'd like to say a general 'sorry' for not replying to some quotes over the last couple of weeks but an operation and some serious personal stuff have prevented me from really looking on here much so I'm not being ignorant.

Re: Tipped by supercomputer to be relegated
Yes we have been very poor on a few occasions (both Palace games for instance) but we seem to have got over a good few difficulites. I just think, taken as a whole, we are far better and more experienced than the current bottom 3 (who I think will be there at the end of the season) and we are certainly no worse than the likes of Southampton, Newcastle, Brighton etc. We will be okay I believe and as I have said I think the safety net will be lower this season and I seriously think that we will achieve more than 35 points, which I currently see as the safety. Of course things may change but on current form for all involved I think we have nothing much to worry about. I will be slightly less confident if we haven't got to 35 before the last 4 games.bfcmik wrote:We have been for quite a few games this season - thinking Palarse away, West Ham away, Chelsea home and Newcastle home in particular
