Email from the club
Anybody else had this tonight?
"sit back, your season ticket will renew automatically...
As you pay via Direct Debit, you will be receiving a courtesy letter in the coming days with details on the autorenewal process. The letter will include the payment amounts for the forthcoming season - please take note if you have changed age group and therefore price category.
If you are happy with the letter, sit back and your season ticket for the 2019/20 season will renew automatically."
I have never paid for a season ticket by direct debit.

Had the exact same email and also didn't pay by direct debit.
Assume they were sent out by mistake?

My wife got one. She has only been to the Turf twice let alone ever had a season ticket.
Re: Email from the club
Any reason the club can't change payment days for your direct debits? Most other companies let you select a date.

Re: Email from the club
Its beyond a joke that they wont do that. Fair enough it shouodnt make any difference really but it would be in the clubs interest as much as anyone elses to have a more sensible date. I would guess that at least 75 percent of people are paid on the last day of the month and therefore less likely to have bounced payments and all the admin hassle of chasing them. Its been at least 3 years now and they absolutely could and should be more flexible than that now.Murger wrote:Any reason the club can't change payment days for your direct debits? Its not the end of the world. But its the only dd I have that I cant change. Every other one comes out on the same day. I say only one. I have 5 season tickets all come out.
Obviously it shouldnt matter. But ive no doubt ot does to many.

Yep. Got the very same one.
Haven’t had a season ticket for 9 years since I move to Australia.

Re: Email from the club
Yes, we had all this last year. And as before, there is a simple answer - for anyone where the date of payment is so important, they need to take out a personal loan with a bank, and use the cash to pay the season ticket up front. The bank will let them choose their repayment date.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Its beyond a joke that they wont do that. Simple. Except the people for whom its a problem probably arent the best with money. And therefore are unlikely to get a loan, especially at a reasonable rate.dsr wrote:Yes, we had all this last year. Its the only business i deal with where I cant have it on a date that suits me.

'you want interest free credit? You can have it. You want to choose the date of payment? You can have it. you want both? Well, you can't have everything. If you had said "it's a little disappointing" that you can't choose the date, then you could have had a valid point. Saying "it's beyond a joke" that your interest free credit isn't done on exactly the terms you want, tells me that you are anxiously looking for something to complain about.

Re: Email from the club
I don’t understand this issue with not being able to choose the DD date.
You know it’s going to come out st the same point every month so budget accordingly.
If that’s too much of a struggle, set up a second account where all your DD come out of, transfer the correct amount into it to cover the DDs, and use the other as a spending account

So by that logic, you'd need to get a loan to pay your gas, Sky, food etc?dsr wrote:Yes, we had all this last year. Gas companies, Sky, and food companies don't offer interest free credit.

Re: Email from the club
Perhaps the reason is that they charge you £15 for a missed payment.
I too don't understand the problem with the date the money is taken out of an account.
As said previously, you know it's coming out so when you get paid deduct it from your balance
at that time, along with all your other direct debits, and the balance is what is available for
everyday spends.

Re: Email from the club
Because they offering you interest free credit having implemented this scheme in house. You still have the alternative of paying up front.Murger wrote:Any reason the club can't change payment days for your direct debits? Most other companies let you select a date.
I would assume that if the club were able to offer the option of changing date then it would be a bigger task, requiring more staff just to run it. I think there would then be a cost to us.
As for the emails, I suspect someone has made a mistake in sending them out like that. I would think something like that would point to the marketing department.

Re: Email from the club
This season I paid up front and had not heard anything from the club. For next season I decided to
take the very generous offer of interest free credit and pay by direct debit.
I have since had an email inviting to apply for direct debit, an email confirming my new arrangement,
an email setting out the payment schedule (followed by a letter in the post) and, finally, the email
referred to in this thread.
Don't ever tell me that the club don't communicate wth the fans.

Re: Email from the club
Maybe it's easier for the club to know exactly when the money is coming in?
Maybe the club need the money in the account a few days before they pay the players wages? Keeping cashflow at premium.
