PSG and the Clarets......
A quote from today’s i - paper discussing the attraction of PSG, as their games attract the likes of of DiCaprio, Beyonce, Jagger and so on.
“They want to win trophies and leagues like the rest of the world’s elite but they also want to be a lifestyle, an ethos, a fashion statement. And they are possibly the only club at which this is achievable. Paris is chic and cool and mysterious. Al-Khelafi would have struggled to create the same allure at Burnley.”
Aye, that’s true enough but, then again, who’d be happy being cynically taken over and run by a bunch of Qataris and all they stand for just to clean up their poxy image ?
They make Citeh look almost ethical.

Surely PSG are no different to man city? On a personal front I prefer PSG over any of our top six and enjoy watching em.... Cavani in particular.

Your knowledge of football is outstanding but is they any news on your horse utc
Re: PSG and the Clarets......
Can’t stand PSG - club built purely on money.
When the club was more on a level footing with the rest of the league they struggled to win anything for years.
Given their resources they have failed dismally in the Champions League.
Would love a team like Ajax to beat them in the next round.

I'm glad Beyoncé and DiCaprio aren't at the Turf. That alone is worth more than losing in the quarter finals of the Champions League every year.

For all the talk about PSG and Man City dominating the Champions League for years to come, their return has so far been lamentable,i think the best either has done is reach a semi-final,and often one or both has gone out before the Quarters,it just shows throwing dosh at a bunch of mercenaries is no guarantee of success.

Re: PSG and the Clarets......
did anyone watch the Rio Ferdinand thing on BT last night when he interviewed various people at PSG ? Manager was absolutely outstanding. The whole club is being built as a brand and getting as much out of various revenue streams as they can. Burnley need to be better at that and no doubt they are improving

Burnley is cold and sh*t and gregarious.
The luminaries would soon be extinguished by a trip or 2 on the Turf.

Re: PSG and the Clarets......
Only this afternoon I was talking to someone whose son was a junior chef at a London hotel. The head chef a Frenchman asked if he was a football fan " yes I follow Burnley", the Frenchman burst into " Sean Dyche Claret n Blue army", "so am I".
Head chef picked Burnley at random, as his English team to follow and used to send the club money to send him match programmes. He only got to see us when they played in London. But young chef was taken under his wing and learnt a hell of a lot more from him, because of the Clarets link.

Re: PSG and the Clarets......
When the current crazy football bubble burst theirs going to be sometime amazing falls from grace. Attracting the likes of Jagger, Di Caprio and Beyonce, so what!! if the current football fan chooses a team by which famous person supports them, then the world's gone bloody crackers.

Did anyone else sing “Sean Dyche Claret and blue army” to themselves in a French accent after reading that?Bfc wrote:Only this afternoon I was talking to someone whose son was a junior chef at a London hotel. Re: PSG and the Clarets......
If I was on the board/head of marketing, I'd find out which countries have recently been exposed to Premier league football (TV rights etc) and really drive a massive marketing/advertising campaign there.Vegas Claret wrote:Burnley need to be better at that and no doubt they are improving
No doubt easier said than done, but it's one way to really gain new fans and therefore a new revenue stream.
We're unfashionable but that can be used to our advantage.
We have some unique qualities as well that the other members of the Premier league do not have... Such as being a founder member of the football league (only top flight foundin g member of English football playing on original ground - nob end are but division below), actually winning the league - some 'big' teams such as West Ham haven't done that!
Etc, etc, etc....
You catch my drift....

PSG and Co have spent their millions, missed out - so far - on the big trophy they've tried to buy and are trendy amongst the A-listers. **** 'em.

As I say, it’s a toilet of a city and I’ve been to dozens across Europe.

I'd say this is worse than the Barca 6-1 mauling,at least Barca had the firepower to blow teams away, you could argue about the VAR pen,but the match should have been done and dusted by then, how many chances did they want.

A town is hardly a capital of a leading European country, so not a good comparison. Millwall or QPR maybe.
Burnley is real and special. Expecting to win and being angry when your team doesn't deliver expectancy is for others. Real clubs do it with blood, sweat and tears.
Yes I am sure there are other revenues to be had. Work needs to be done in that area.
