Good to see all 5 called up. Horrible to see Whelan and McGeady called up.

That's got to be one of the weakest Ireland squads in modern history, not much talent on show.

Nah, it's pretty typical. It's like McCarthy is picking up where he left off in 2002.

2 players from League 2 and 5 from League 1.

They'd better hope they don't get too many drop outs over the weekend or they may struggle against Gibraltar.

Yer i do think that their day had passed but in the 38 is one thing and the 11 on the park is something else .
I will give Mick a real chance to make his mark we will see where it gets us .

The days when we could pick 13 or more premier League players is gone in the short and medium term, sign of the times I'm afraid. Tribesmen is right, McCarthy will bring organisation and a positive attitude to the squad, looking forward to the new regime.

Sadly they do seem to be weak in every department. Since Robbie Keane retired it was the lack of a goalscorer but now they have gone backwards all over the field.

Strange how Scotland and Ireland aren't producing any good players anymore, wonder what's changed
