Good to see all 5 called up. Horrible to see Whelan and McGeady called up.

That's got to be one of the weakest Ireland squads in modern history, not much talent on show.

Nah, it's pretty typical. It's like McCarthy is picking up where he left off in 2002.Shore claret wrote:That's got to be one of the weakest Ireland squads in modern history, not much talent on show.

2 players from League 2 and 5 from League 1.
They'd better hope they don't get too many drop outs over the weekend or they may struggle against Gibraltar.

Re: ARTICLE: Five Clarets in McCarthy’s Ireland squad
The days when we could pick 13 or more premier League players is gone in the short and medium term, sign of the times I'm afraid. Tribesmen is right, McCarthy will bring organisation and a positive attitude to the squad, looking forward to the new regime.

Sadly they do seem to be weak in every department. Since Robbie Keane retired it was the lack of a goalscorer but now they have gone backwards all over the field.

Strange how Scotland and Ireland aren't producing any good players anymore, wonder what's changed
