Re: whats the Answer
Cookie = 10
Banana = 2
Lemon (it is a lemon, isn't it?) = 3
3 + 2 + (2 x 10) = 25
Remember to do your multiplication first, everyone.

In that case the answer is 2 + 1 + (1 x7) = 10ClaretTony wrote:25 - multiplication done first so it is 3 + 2 + (2x10)

Re: whats the Answer
Surely, the biscuit would have to be in brackets for the multiplication to be done first:
3+2+2(10) = 25
Without any brackets is it not:
3+2+2 x 10 = 70?
3+2+2(10) = 25
Without any brackets is it not:
3+2+2 x 10 = 70?

Standard mathematics, if no brackets then multiplication is done first.CaptainKirk wrote:Surely, the biscuit would have to be in brackets for the multiplication to be done first:

Cookies are 10
Bananas are 1 each. (Note halving number of bananas next line)
Yellow thing is 3
Therefore 3+1+(1x10) =14
If the clock hands are to be believed then it would be 13

Re: whats the Answer
You don't need brackets - without them you do the multiplication first - to get to your answer you would need to see (2+1+1) x 7conyoviejo wrote:Wrong

Re: whats the Answer
40 wrong!
I once answered a similar type of puzzle in a newspaper advert for Mensa which had the same sort of come on - 'Einstein got this in 3 seconds'. Three hours later, I decided to send it in with the wrong answer and things like 8x7=48 etc. written on it. Mensa still sent me their bumf with various IQ tests but I never got round to doing them as I went out to play football.

The question is "why is there no question mark ?"
Or indeed an apostrophe.
Or a capital w.

Re: whats the Answer
Impossible to answer, just because the cookies on the top line are worth ten does not mean we know the one on the bottom is worth seven.
If we assume that then the answer is 11
Edit
Same with the clock in the middle, which i have now seen is different in the last line.
So 10 like others have said.
