Had half a leg amputated a few years ago because of an infection.

Loved that programme as a kid some great TV then

He'd battled alcoholism and drug addiction, had several massive car crashes, so not a massive surprise he died of a heart attack.
Quite surprising to read he died February 10th, but not made public until yesterday... As people have said, one of many great tv shows from our childhoods. "Manimal" was a very short lived series I remember enjoying! In Airwolf, did he ever find his missing brother?!

Was he in a film called Thunderbolt & Lightfoot? At the time I watched it in the 70s it was a brilliant film

No that was Jeff Bridges, Clint Eastwood, George Kennedy and another of Clints mates Geoffrey Lewis (who was Clints brother in the Clyde the Orang Utan movies "Every which way but loose" and "Any which way you can")
