I wanted 15 tickets for Anfield, BFC said 'NO'

Post by LongSider75 » Sun Mar 10, 2019 9:04 am

Was going to run a bus today from Hebden Bridge for the Liverpool game today. I asked the ticket office for 15 tickets prior to them going on sale, but they said that they could not provide me with so many until they went on general sale due to the reduced allocation. By the time I had got back from an overnight stay for the Newcastle game, all that was left were restricted view tickets, so I decided that even I am going to give it a miss although I go to the majority of away games, as well as having a season ticket for many years. Does anybody else think that BFC were a little bit hasty in taking less than 1900 tickets at such a crucial time of the season. I spend a lot of money, and take a lot of nights off work to watch the clarets home and away, but I am beginning to wonder if the club gives a toss about it's supporters. At least I can watch it in the boozer. Should we have taken the full 3000 ??????

With hindsight probably yes. Although to be fair at the time I thought 1800 would probably be about right given it's on TV and a stupid kick off time. We struggled to sell 3 thousand last season there for a Saturday afternoon game.

There’s that feeling today they need to win - need lots of goals .... which means being Burnley we might pick up some points.

With the higher allocation, there are no returns so the club has to pay for them whether we sell them or not

We may have sold all 3000 or we may have only sold 1915, we’ll never know, but it would have cost the club upto £90k for them

We sold out well in advance, so with hindsight we should have taken 3,000.

Our away followings have been down this year though, understandably, not just because of performances but games we’d normally take more played on poor days/times.

I can understand the club taking the lower allocation with this one, and I was surprised they sold out so quickly. Our crowds do tend into increase later in the season though.

I think the club got ticket allocation right. 1900 for a stupid kick off time seems ok to me.

Hi Longsider, I'm intrigued. Would it have been you + 14 non-ST holders, possibly even new fans? If all 15 were ST holders couldn't they all buy their own tickets? Problem solved?

Enjoy the game today.

Would we? The fact that there were any left at all to go on general sale suggests otherwise. What have we - 15,000 ticket holders? If we can’t sell 2,000 tickets to them, it’s unlikely we’d sell another 1,000 to the less committed.

Some of the less committed don’t live locally and can only make certain games
Just because you can’t always attend doesn’t make you less committed

If restricted view wasnt on offer and remaining i kno quite a few extra who would have gone. Sure we could have shifted more

How many restricted view were in our allocation? Were any of these sold?

I'm assuming we had the chance to say "not the restricted view tickets, thanks."

Only 3 of us are season ticket holders, the rest are all clarets though. Of course I could have still gone, but we'll all watch it together in the local now.

The restricted view tickets are the back few rows, so probably 150 or so. They were all sold. And no, we couldn't have refused to take those tickets as they are in the Away section and Liverpool couldn't have sold them to their fans.
