For sure. You attach it to moments in life. Music is a great thing. No matter how down you feel a song can take you back to much happier times.SalisburyClaret wrote:The music you like most is usually what you heard when you were in your teens

Hiya Ian,I know you now,if you lived on Shawfield I lived about 30 seconds away down on the main rd (Bury Rd) next to the Post Office.houseboy wrote:Jimmy Lord? If the same I went to a Burnley game in the league cup at Aston Villa in an old Humber Hawk and Jimmy was in the car with us. He stabbed the back of my hand with the fag lighter and I got him back on the way home and think I scarred him for life (we were only fooling around I hasten to add). I think Peter Whitley might have been with us as well.
You have my first name bud. Any clue as to your surname? I lived on Shawfield before moving to Haslingden with my parents (and Hardman Avenue before that). Did you know Roger Fulton/Harry Place/Chris Keefe etc?

Re: Music Fact
I was never out of that post office (Ian go get this - Ian go get that) if it wasn't the post office it was the selling out shop at Wood Top. Somehow you're going to have to put me out of my misery. Steve/Paul who used to live on Maitland Place and next door to the PO and went to Balladen (although you would have been a couple of years below me). You must have known Nigel and Graham Tolley mate, they went to Balladen and lived half way between me and you on the edge of Fallbarn. Graham was a year or so older than me but Nigel was the same age.Steve1956 wrote:Hiya Ian,I know you now,if you lived on Shawfield I lived about 30 seconds away down on the main rd (Bury Rd) next to the Post Office.
What will be your next clue? The plot thickens.

Re: Music Fact
Mick rings a bell. Now I think I'm getting nearer but if I am I would bizarrely have your intitials as SC, but if it is who I think it is I thought he was slightly older than me and possibly may have lived on Lavender Hill at one time? Or that may be wrong. I would have you as Steven C and the second part of your surname would have something to do with water? I might be wrong. You are completely correct about my initials and I think you definitely know me. I'm sure I know you now but the name is just making me uncertain. I have a definite name in mind but short of putting it on here (which I won't of course) I can't be sure. Ha ha - at least it's fun, it's better than Mastermind this.Steve1956 wrote:Your initial's are IH yea? Mine are PC ,i was a drinking buddy of Mick Coad

Re: Music Fact
I don't believe it. Anyway what the hell is he doing there bud. So anyway that kinda throws me off again. We obviously know each other, had similar friends and went to school together. The is one other thing I'll ask but forgive me I'm getting desperate: how's your hand? If you have no idea what the hell I'm on about I can discount someone else.Steve1956 wrote:I'm not Cardy mate,he did live on Lavender Hill though,I think he lives in Thailand now.

Another one bites the dust. This is like a weird combination of What's My Line and Through the Keyhole. I'm reduced to cryptic Zen koan type questions now.Steve1956 wrote:Hands fine buddy.
Here's another complete stab in the dark: do you 'cry' a lot? Jesus, Mary and Joseph did I just ask that. Trust me you will know if I'm right, which I'm probably not. You can answer obliquely if you like with something like 'Yeah!!!!! You got me.' or just say no.

Re: Music Fact
Yeah, I was going to ask if you knew him. He was my next door neighbour on Shawfield and my best mate at one time. I haven't seen him in so long I don't even know if he's still around, he was a couple of years older than me. Hey I'm glad we've caught up mate we should have a beer sometime.Steve1956 wrote:Yea from 76 till 79 spent most of my working life at Lambert Howarths greenbridge factory, did you go to the Turf with Stuart Johnson,a blast from the past I wonder what happened to him?

Re: Music Fact
Let me know and we'll see. Seems like a plan. Yeah you definitely did many times mate. I remember when you worked on the bins and said you often wondered what the hell Paul Fletcher put in his bin because it was always heavy (he lived up Newchurch at the time). By the way, I seem to think you were a big Bowie fan?Steve1956 wrote:I remember meeting in the Crown now,I think I used to even go on the Turf with you and SJ,I got out of the Rossendale rat race Ian and moved to Scotland,do you still go on,I'm coming down for the crunch game against Cardiff maybe have a pint then.

I ended up living next door but one to Paul Fletcher,my ex wife still lives there although Fletcher doesn't...Yea I was a massive Bowie fan, along with Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel, who I have been to watch all over the place many times, yea the bins when you had to actually carry them and they weighed a ton
