Dwight McNeil

Post by cricketfieldclarets » Sun Mar 10, 2019 1:24 pm

What a talent. Great on the ball. Direct. And extremely confident. Our bright spot today.

Hope he continues with that approach and isnt coached into being defence first.

Not saying he is half as good bit reminds me of Giggs when he was coming through.

Taylor makes 2 of the best goal saving talked you see, and they score with the next touch.
MOM by a mile, felt for him today.

Good prospect. If he had more pace and consistency, he would be an incredible prospect.

McNeil was the only good thing going forward today. Made Trent Arnold look silly on a few occasions.

Highly unlikely he will be playing in the championship, maybe a 15% chance.

If by some chance we do go down im sure he won’t be slashing his wrists as a the prospect of playing 46 games against lower level right backs in the best side in the league.

Man up a bit eh?

Eh? Results went against us yesterday and didn't expect owt today against one of the best sides around. You've collapsed after a difficult weekend. If we were to be relegated - and of course that's a possibility - I can't imagine McNeil wouldn't be playing for us next season.

Another good game from Dwight. I thought our mid 2 Westwood and Cork were very poor today they kept getting turned over. We are desperate for some steel in the middle of the park, against the better sides this season they have looked like men against boys

Kept getting turned over by Lalana, Fabinho & Wijnaldhum?

They should be ashamed of themselves

We won’t be playing in the Championship next season, so that won’t be a problem will it? I sincerely hope you don’t attend live Burnley games. If you do....please don’t! We need real fans in the run in....not snowflakes who don’t understand the game.

Excellent today he had England’s brightest full back on toast.

Shame none of our strikers could get onto any of his balls in.

We were playing Liverpool of course but we've been short of strength in midfield for a long time now. It should have been addressed but hasn't and we could pay a hefty price. We'll see.

John Connelly, Willie Morgan, Ralph Coates, Leighton James were consistent.

Fantastic today and he does remind me of Eyres (though let us not forget he wasn't a PL standard player).

Dwight will have a great career if he learns to defend and remembers that God blessed him with two feet rather than one. No guarantee he will learn those things.

Don't be daft. Wingers dont tata full backs every game. That is what I meant. That applied to the ones mentioned above - as good as they were.

Totally agree with this. Generally inconsistency applies more to wingers then any other position.

McNeil is a fantastic player and so to is Charlie Taylor. A bit more bite in the middle of the park and another CF and we would probably be mid table by now.

We have to give this lad every encouragement. Good to see he reclaimed his form today-and that away to one of the best teams in Europe. He could be the difference in us staying up

He was really, really good today going forward, but what worries me is that at some point SD will either instruct him to be more defensive or drop him for someone who is because Taylor is left a bit exposed at times and that would be real shame because he worries full backs in a way most modern wingers don't.

The left side of the pitch is looking excellent since Xmas. Taylor coming into his own and Mcneil with so much talent and that cracking left foot. They also seem to work very well together.
