Time for Pope

Post by Inchy » Sun Mar 10, 2019 1:30 pm

Need to get our best keeper in the team before he decides to leave.

Our form has been brilliant under Heaton but it was always decent under Pope

If Hart played like Heaton has today everyone would be going mental

On the last point they would be slating Hart agreed.

On your first point outlr best keeper has been playing.

Poor today. But overall has been huge for us since coming back in.

Would be very harsh to drop Heaton after one bad game.

Agreed

Last 3 games there's been a few questions on positioning, decision making and the goals that have gone in.

Heaton has been superb for us since coming back in but I’m fearful that Pope will want out if he isn’t getting a look in soon.

It’s very harsh for all concerned, including Hart.

We have two very good keepers (Heaton and Pope)

We need to show that poor performances won’t be accepted

Heaton plays well, like he has been and does do, we’ve a keeper for 3-4 years +

Pope comes in and plays well and he leaves one of the next 2 transfer windows for money we can’t say no to. Oh, and Heaton has already gone. This is if Pope does play as well as before, if he doesn’t, then we still have no keepers as Heaton has gone.

It was tongue in cheek

FWIW I don’t think he had that many poor games but it was more that the players in front didn’t have any confidence in him.

But Dyche reluctance to make that change for so long, despite changing everything else, could ultimate cost us

Oh yeah, that'll do wonders for his confidence, won't it?

Bad performance from Heaton. But he should start the next game. I'd move Pope up to the bench.

Pope has a bright future.

Hart has a great past.

Keep the prospect. Release yesterday's man.

Whatever happens....keep Joe Hart away. Heaton or Pope will do just fine. You can’t get a Rizla between ‘em. Hart not even close.

No it wasn’t. We only won 5 games after Xmas and we won them on the bounce. We were bang average after D4 & Brady went down.

The reason Heaton pulled out of taking mane down is he knew he would of seen Red and Pope would have been back between the sticks

It wouldn’t have been red as it would have been a genuine attempt for the ball, which is a yellow card

Bad game from Tom but if Hart gets back in I’d say we’re definitely down.

Pope does need to be involved from next season, we need rid of Hart ASAP so we don’t lose the best up and coming keeper we’ve had in years.

That’s the worst game I’ve ever seen Heaton have, and he was still head & shoulders better than Pickford was yesterday.

To suggest dropping him after one poor performance is plain stupid, even by the standards of this forum.

Heaton has a shocker yet there are posts that we need to sell Hart. I don't get it, Hart was on the bench , didn't make any mistakes yet some find an opportunity to have a go at him. Odd.

Oh to be UTC bomb proof like Jack Cork.

The responses on this post towards Hart sum up everything about some Burnley fans. Absolute morons. Don’t blame the defence and midfield that didn’t bother turning up till December just blame Joe. Pricks.

Heaton is the only reason we are not in the bottom 3. has one poor game by his standards and:
1. He needs to be replaced by a goalkeeper who hasn't played all season
2. Our 2nd choice keeper gets left off the bench.

Nope. Heaton wasn't on a yellow card. If he'd made a genuine attempt at the ball it's have been a penalty and yellow.

Heaton's blunders cost us today, but let's be fair he's earned some slack over the years, so it's by no means terminal. BUT having said that I'm another who believes Pope is overall the best of the 3 keepers so Tom needs to make up for today next week and beyond or he will quickly use up all of his cred imo!

I’m a Heaton fan but he was poor today. You can’t go to Anfield + gift them 4 goals by pub football defending. It looked like most of our team had been out on the lash all last night. Pope should now be on the bench to keep Tom on his toes. Hart was given plenty of time to prove his worth to Burnley FC and was found out. Move him on.

As bad as TheRoyalDyche suggesting Vydra should start.
Not sure if trolling or serious.

We found the right formula and it worked for 8 games straight, we've had a couple set backs but no use in doing anything stupid now. Not the time to be experimenting.

Nick Pope doesn’t seem the big time billy type and is living the dream as it stands I feel he would be happy to wait for a chance and even more so if and when joe moves on which could be fairy soon :D
