Depends on your upbringing, I’ll have a pint anywhere but I have mates that wouldn’t drink in half the pubs in Burnley

Some good uns above, also Coach and Horses - that circuit of Boot, Bridge, Coach, Talbot is well-trodden. Pity The White Hart is no more.

Out of town I know but the Crooked Billet is a cracking pub and some real Clarets are customers.
Was frequented by Brian Miller.Willie Irvine and Alan Taylor on occasions.

Re: Best pubs in Burnley ?
Roggerham Gate Inn... The pub that time forgot. Still, nice beer.
Just around the corner from 'Top Withens' and a perilous 10 mile hike from Haworth Parsonage.
I think Extwistle Hall is what Emily Bronte based her novel on, after a night at the Roggerham Gate Inn.

Re: Best pubs in Burnley ?
As transport links improve (X43 bus and Tod curve train link) there is an 'increasing risk' that traditional Burnley pub goers will choose to drink outside the town centre. This process is already happening and seems to be accelerating and imo Burnley town centre could become a real ale pub desert.
The council should take this situation extremely seriously and must support existing pubs/bars and new bar applications by minimising business rates and offering grants to upgrade existing licensed premises.
A minimum price per unit of alcohol would also help pubs/bars compete with loss leading supermarket alcohol sales and I would encourage our MP to 'get involved' and support this proposal in parliament.

That isn't going to happen when govt central funding is being cut to the bone, and while we ratepayers suffer increases above the current RPI, but for less in the way of the services that our local authorities provide.Mala591 wrote:The council should take this situation extremely seriously and must support existing pubs/bars and new bar applications by minimising business rates and offering grants to upgrade existing licensed premises.
Also, it wouldn't be politically astute. Reducing council services while offering grants to pubs and bars wouldn't be a wise thing for any party to do. BTW: I wish there was enough money to fund grants and to cut business rates. I also wish our public services weren't being fubared.

Its a cracking little pub and the beers are always spot on.Was my local for 20 years before i moved away from Worsthorne..The Bay Horse was also a cracking pub in those days when Vinny,Ethel and Rod Naylor ran it.Locals used to move between the two pubs they were both that good.
Even the local Bobby used to pop in at closing time (official closing time never happened) and have a couple of beers.....

Best pubs in Burnley? That’s walking distance from the Town centre in my book and I suspect others too so outlining places like Worthsthorne and Cliviger don’t count I’m afraid...so having said that I declare the Rifle Volunteer the winner followed closely by the Talbot, drinks on the boy McDonald I think you’ll agree

Drank around acci rd mid 1970s to mid 1980s and out of the four,(alma, peeps and fleece were the rest then) wood top when Margaret had it was the least popular, as for nowadays the best of the burnley pubs are no more and the majority of characters are also gone so drink out of town quite often but if I do go down burnley the mojito's seems one of the better places.
