The Adverts on his employers TV station say "when the fun stops stop"

Typical of the likes of Sky having a "recovering (obviously not)" Gambling Addict in adverts for gambling... see the "Boost" adverts for Sky bet......

To promote responsible gambling casino signs should use the singular form of dice.

His meltdown live on Sky Sports when Matic and Barnes clashed is still one of my favourite TV moments.

In absolutely sick and quite frankly, appalled at just how much our club promote their gambling sponsors. The stuff their churn out from Ladbrokes is a joke. I asked representatives from the club about why they promote it so much when it’s such a harmful thing to many in our community...the response was one pretty much along the lines of ‘money talks’ and more worrying, ‘I personally don’t see what the harm is’

Ladbrokes should’ve had their contract terminated immediately following their comments in tweets post-Leeds game last season. Money talks though doesn’t it? :-(

I'm absolutely delighted by how much money our club makes from sponsors of all kinds, including gambling: the more money, the better. If money talks, I hope it sings and shouts at Burnley.

I do find it difficult to raise any sympathy for Mr Merson.

I met him once. After he playrd in a charity 5 asidr competition, filling in at short notice for matt le tissier and playing for free for one of the teams on the day.

He was sound as a pound. And spent the full day there helping out for worthy causes.

Seems that he has taken his eye off the ball. Getting involved with self help groups like gamblers anonymous, narcotics anonymous and AA should be for life as the brain chemistry of addicts does not change with abstinence no matter how long that lasts, just as insulin is life long for some diabetics. Pick up the betting slip or can of beer and most are off again; so we should have sympathy for the addicts, it is not their fault but perhaps what may be laid at their door is for those who cannot engage with what is needed to live well and even then those who do not engage, maybe even that is not all down to them.
Must be very hard staying off booze and betting when addicted compared with kicking tobacco.

Good luck to him and all others with similar problems.
