Volkswagen
Volkswagen
VW boss makes a nazi gaffe. Considering the company’s foundation stone was laid by Hitler and manufactured German army vehicles using slave labour from camps, along with V1 rockets, it’s disgraceful. Should this company have been allowed to continue under the Volkswagen banner?

Anyone who buys a Volkswagen, Audi, Seat or Skoda is complicit, and is a Nazi ....
Still haven't stumped up a penny in compensation to the UK Government to help combat the diesel emissions that their cheating management imposed on us, but report $10bn or so profits for this year ...

Ill-judged but you've got to remember that "Arbeit macht Frei" is in itself a twist on another phrase and he may equally have been harking back to that.
I'm more worried he forgot the old saying, "Umsatz ist Eitelkeit, Gewinn ist vernünftig, aber Bargeld ist Realität"

Reading that link I see they're cutting 7k jobs due to switching to the manufacturing of electric vehicles.
Food for thought.

Or as they probably still say in the motor trade, " Any fool can give cars away or sell at a loss, try and keep your margin in the metal, and try and direct a cash customer to overage stock and shift that, if you can ! "

It's not necessarily that they haven't stumped up, it's because the Government haven't pushed it. Besides, there were a lot more than just VW up to no goodClarets4me wrote:Anyone who buys a Volkswagen, Audi, Seat or Skoda is complicit, and is a Nazi ....

BMW (Barvarian Motor Works) originally made planes and their symbol represents a moving propeller.Belial wrote:It's not necessarily that they haven't stumped up, it's because the Government haven't pushed it. Besides, there were a lot more than just VW up to no good

Re: Volkswagen
The Quandt family in Germany still own a major shareholding in BMW and are still actively involved in its operations. The founder of the Quandt industrial dynasty, Gunther Quandt, was a member of the Nazi party after it came to power. His companies, including BMW, used slave labour including many of the inmates from Dachau. Gunther's second wife, Magda, divorced him and became a certain Magda Goebbels: I wonder whatever happened to her?

Isn’t the propellor Mercedes? BMW are the blue & white quarters which are taken from the Bavaria flag.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote:BMW (Barvarian Motor Works) originally made planes and their symbol represents a moving propeller.

Re: Volkswagen
The Blue and White quarters are indeed the basis of the Bavarian flag. BMW started producing air craft engines before cars and this idea that the logo represents a propeller is not confirmed by the BMW company. The first car they made was an Austin 7 under licence from the English car maker.

Re: Volkswagen
The Mercedes logo is not a propeller, it is a three pointed star to indicate the company could dominate in all engineering domains of land, sea and air.
Re: Volkswagen
On the subject of slave labour during WW2 how on earth did Albert Speer avoid the noose and go on to be fated and welcomed in the TV studios of the UK? Similarly the Nazi rocket makers who used thousands of slave workers in building the V1's and V2's went on to live lives of luxury in the US.

The rocket makers went to work for the Americans thanks to operation Paperclip and helped get man to the moon originally, including on particular nasty nazi who apparently became a director of NASA's Space Flight Centre.claret59 wrote:On the subject of slave labour during WW2 how on earth did Albert Speer avoid the noose and go on to be fated and welcomed in the TV studios of the UK? The Nazi scientists were well ahead of the Americans in many areas, including weapons, so that's why they were well rewarded for their work in the US
