M66 shut

Heads up anyone heading to the match from further afield. M66 is currently closed due to flooding.

Absolutely horrible conditions today, I was out running earlier and so many areas are flooded, it was up to my ankles at times

Similar to when we played Leicester on New Years Day in 2005. Hopefully the pitch in better shape today!

I’m thinking of going the Rochdale—Bacup—Burnley way over the tops.

Thanks for this. In fact the M66 has been a nightmare for the past 2 matches.
Also AA Road Watch are showing there is also a problem on Manchester Rd in Burnley, is that correct?

Yes it's closed from the roundabout at Trafalgar street down to Finsley Gate for some works being carried out to an old pipeline, that's attached to the bridge and overhanging the canal. Been there a few weeks mind.

The section near to where the Inn on the Wharf was has been closed for the last four weeks. Signs in the area indicated the closure ended yesterday, but it may still be closed today?

Thanks. It's no surprise that it's still closed. I've walked through that section almost every day since the closure started, and there has been little activity.

People have been asking if there is a "Stream" to the match.....

The M66 is now a river not a "Stream"

That was the last time I watched Burnley play Leicester. The pitch was dreadful that day! I took some pics as well.

That match should never have started and it ruined the pitch for the rest of the season.

I wonder if they’ll have the foresight to also resurface that stretch of road whilst the road closure is in place.

No, you’re right.

The state of the roads are disgraceful.

Also horrendous against Leicester on 11-12-82. The match where Alan Stevenson was sent off after sliding about 15yds taking out a Leicester player. We lost 2-4 and in my opinion it went a long way to our eventual relegation.

Have just driven from Manchester Airport via the M6y towards Burnley is down to 1 lane for a while, but not closed. Away from Burnley is closed. No flooding but lots of cones out with nobody working.
