We really are a poor side.
TBH we've been rewarding failure and poor performance far too long.

Re: Relegation is imminent
When we came up I commented how well we had done to fill the side with experienced players who had promotions to their name, Shackell, Wallace, Jones, etc., and young hungry players, Ings, Trippier, Mee.
We now have a side of championship players. Nearly all have relegation on their cv and Brady is a master at it, 3 times if we go.
I’ll not say we are down until the figures prove it but something has to change.

Dyche gets out coached almost every match. The other side make changes that affect the game, we just make changes. Usually to late and ineffective.bumba wrote:It wasn't the board that played those tactics or made those substitutions today.
Today was all Dyches fault. Bringing his mate Crouch on was laughable Morgan can't run get Vydra running running behind him instead for last 20 minutes.
Too play long ball in that weather is a joke.
8 decent games in over a year isn't a good manager
Re: Relegation is imminent
Imagine being Vydra. He must be utterly bemused. Gets 2 minutes a game max and sits on bench watching Peter freaking Crouch . Bet he cant wait to get the hell out of Burnley. Dyche has clearly lost the plot

Re: Relegation is imminent
We played as well as you can expect for a squad of our quality.
Leicester are by far better on paper, and sometimes that's the way it proves.
Strange about Vydra though, all that money we spent on him and he's hardly featured. Even being overlooked by the static 38 year old Crouch today says a lot.

Some days Tottenham at home being a perfect example i love the fact we play more direct. Today.... lashing down and blowing a gale, making every ball hold up in the wind or change direction etc.... keep it on the floor and pass the ball. Got it wrong today but need to move on quickly

Re: Relegation is imminent
They lost one of the best centre backs in the division after 3 minutes, then substituted one of their most creative players for an ageing slow defender, and we did the square root of f##k all to exploit this huge advantage.
We deserve to go down given such inept management.

Exactly. The tactics from the 4th minute should have been to move the ball from one side of the pitch to the other, keep the ball and keep them chasing looking for the gaps that will appear as they tire especially 60mins onwards... not leather it to the head of Morgan for 86 minutesFoulthrow wrote:The only time we kept on the ground we scored.

Re: Relegation is imminent
I’m not one of the Dyche Out lot (whom I seem to remember were queuing up to apologise a few weeks ago) but I am finding his attitude to substitutions incredibly frustrating.
Wood and Barnes were terrible today - as they have been for the last few games - and yet when he makes the change he changed nothing. Dyche signed Vydra, and for me Vydra has shown he can change games on the rare occasions he’s been used. Why not give him 30 mins rather than 3?
As for Crouch, the swap with Vokes in January was a cynical exercise in bringing in another £10m which won’t help keep us up. He brings nothing to the party.
Really worried after today.

Disagree. I think we did move the ball from side to side and try to stretch them a bit. It was the total lack of quality in and around the box that cost us.Paddy1882 wrote:Exactly. We’ll stay up just about but the squad needs a good clearing out . People still don’t get it that apart from Heaton and Tarky ( and maybe McNeil for the future ) no one in our squad would get anywhere near a prem starting XI. Dyche has wrung every last drop from this squad of championship journeymen and it’s a job I don’t believe any other prem manager could have done

Ward, Brady, Gibson, Vydra, Hart, Westwood, Cork, Wood, Crouch, Bardsley, Walters off the top of my head had all played premier league football an most international football before we signed them so no excuses to say they aren't good enough.
Dyche signed them it's dyche's tactics that's killing them then his shocking use of subs

SD is going no where, the board don’t have the balls to get rid so if we stay up or drop into the championship we have at least another 12 months of SD min.
If we stay up all we will hear over the summer is how hard it is to get the right players in, the same as last window and the window before that. Anyone that thinks all of a sudden we are going to bring in 7/8 players is delusional.

I take a bit of my critique back. We would have been 1-0 up after 4 mins. If Maguire hadn't done our player. If it's like that it should be a penalty wherever. That would have changed everything.
We should have had another penalty to make it 2-1 to us.
Heaton froze for their winning goal.
Pope back, I think.
We were cheated out of a win and that has a psychological affect on the team and fans and mojo.

Re: Relegation is imminent
Dyche has done so much for us and I do think we’ll finish above Cardiff, but I cannot believe how much we have regressed this season. The football is unbelievably primitive. I bet Leicester (Morgan in particular) couldn’t believe their luck.
We had a striker on the bench precisely suited for games like these and he ignores him and brings on a 38 year old novelty act who couldn’t get a game for a dreadful Stoke side. Who just encourages even more aimless launches ‘into the mixer’. And to have one shot on target in the second half (from Vydra, in one of his allotted three minutes) against 10 men is utterly indefensible. A damaging day for us and Dyche yesterday.

Re: Relegation is imminent
They just put up two banks of four yesterday, and we have no pace (or flair) to get round them. We resort to hoof ball, and in the knowledge we’ll bring on the tall one, they bring on Morgan who will win everything in the air. Sod all shots going in, passes side to side..........
Job done. Gibson, Vydra must wonder what the hells going on, big Sam Vokes made a run for the exit.
A better team would have murdered Leicester yesterday.........good job they only had 10 men as they were probably yet another team who came to just hit us on the break........and win.

Oh, you’re being serious!
Admit it, we were crap playing the same old long balls time after time. The rare occasion we ran with it at pace, creating overlaps, and put crosses in, were the only times we actually looked decent.
