Bye bye Dyche or buy buy Dyche

Post by bfcjg » Sat Mar 16, 2019 7:20 pm

Should he go whatever division we are in next season or should the board back him ? I still think with some decent money he will be an asset but he needs guidance as to how the game has evolved.

He has £26m of talent on bench most weeks then brings on a 38 year old to rescue/win the match.

I'm not sure he can spot a player, to be honest.
either that or he is entrenched in a tactical system that drains flair out of the players he signs.
Could he spend £100million well?

Would you give Dyche €100 to spend.
Crouch ... Wood .... Barnes
Let’s say a big forward line is an understatement.

Nailed it.

The likes of Cork and Westwood are instructed to go sideways and backwards, and sadly McNeil is heading in the same direction.

A forward thinking progressive manager would get us back up to the top ten at least with this squad.

Mee or Tarks need to be dropped next game and Gibson given a chance to impress

2-1 against ten men is inexcusable really

If I’m Garlick I’m prob thinking why dosent he play the players he’s spent £26m on, if he bought big would he stick with the players he knows, absolutely mind boggling and crazy thinking today.

Invariably when tactics come into play Dyche is found out big time

Hate to say it, but when we cant defend - like now, what else can Dyche do for us? Thats his strong point. And we are **** defensively now!

What a steaming pile of shite . Can you envisage for 1 minute what would have happened if we’d played “ exciting attacking football “with the jumble sale mess we have in our squad ?

It’s been a poor season but injuries to Brady /Lennon /Defour had totally starved us of creativity

The sad thing is he has so much going for him, discipline, smartness, no cheating and much more.

And yet when it comes to tactics at this level, he is clueless

The problem is that he won't ever have the kind of money to spend he would like. That's how we operate. I think the Chairman realised sometime ago that Dyche whilst having some fantastic managerial qualities struggles with recruitment. Dyche will no doubt have had a hand in the appointment of the the recruitment chap, however, the Chairman (imo) will have instigated this. When you analyse some of Dyche's high spending and general recruitment, Wells, Vydra, as a Chairman you would have concerns about his ability in this department.

Strange how none of these comments were coming up on the board during the run of eight games without a win - he was the same manager then as he is now. Amazing how such a clueless manager can get us into the Premier League twice and keep us in it twice. Imagine if he had some idea how to manage, imagine if he wasn't clueless.

This season we desperately needed luck with injuries to compete well again . Few of our players have speed and the technical tools to be “ exciting “ at this level

His tactics didn't do too bad last season.. nor the season before, newly promoted and he got us a 16th place finish.

that's when we were a bit of an unknown, other teams now work as hard if not harder than us and tactically Dyche and his team haven't progressed

Championship is his level. Structure, organisation, promotion via military precision, as evidenced each time by same number of wins, draws and even goals scored. I'll give him that.

Not sure we'd be getting much creativity from Lennon, but for all the platitudes about being careful with money and ensuring that players fit in, I'm puzzling why Vydra, one of the club's most expensive players, sits on the bench. The Board can't be pleased with that.
We have to look at the bigger picture. The only manager who has managed to keep the club in the top flight in consecutive seasons for a couple of generations.
But I will concede, bizarre decisions on and off the field have been made this season.

We were talking about this after the game, particularly about the lack of goals at the moment. In his time Dyche has signed Barnes vydra Wood Gray vossen long Wells & hennings & crouch but he was free.

Spunked all that cash on those players and yet Barnes is still our go to striker.

Thanks for that insight. Now can you explain why you weren't saying that during the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons or during the recent run of eight games without defeat? Amazing that a manager who is Championship level can keep a team like ours in the Premier League twice and get a seventh place finish.

probably because in those 8 games we played the ball on the deck and scored some great goals, since the Newcastle game we've reverted to aimless hoofball for the most part. Our goal today proved the way forward for us is playing it on the deck which begs the question what on earth is he saying to them to make them hoof it into the corners ?

Academic as he'll never get £100mil to spend. And £14mil and our wages doesn't get you very much these days.

People will now point the few exceptions like Maddison or Brooks (who went elsewhere for better wages) and not at the dozens on dozens of other signings who haven't made an impact or have been relegated on far bigger fees.

Ha ha - so he's a good manager when we are winning but tactically inept when not.

Barnes has worked hard to win the shirt and continues to work hard to keep it. Did nobody notice the corner flags parallel to the ground. Not an excuse, just means that you can guarantee mistakes and a higher than usual percentage of misplaced passes. Thought there were a lot of good things about our game today bot the opposition played really well considering.

No I never said that so you are making stuff up, I merely replied to your point as to why people were now complaining. However, if you want to talk tactics - playing 4 at the back against 1 striker for 90 minutes at home in a game you have to win............

Not right now, but divide it by the number of player we've had in and the time that took place over. It won't be a lot per player/season

If we stay up, he has to stay. He deserves a crack at freshening up our squad and righting the mistakes he and the club have made in the last two transfer windows.

If we go down, I’m not sure. Recruitment isn’t the club’s strong point and if that extends to managers, we could end up in the doldrums for years. I still think the club lucked out appointing Dyche. I’m sure he gave an impressive interview, but never in their wildest dreams could they have imagined he’d take to the heights he has. It might be a case of sticking with what you know for now.

At this level his assets are motivation, defensive shape, team spirit and fitness. No doubt in those areas he should be praised.

His liabilities are tactical nous and signing players. He has signed some crackers so he isn’t a dud, but nor a master.

The trouble is he isn’t generally a brave man. He is cautious, and likes his “go to” players rather than taking a risk. Today, against Morgan who is brilliant in the air but suspect on the deck, it was crying out for Vydra or moving McNeil into the hole. Instead we got Crouch, who caused problems but was still contained. The outcome was predictable.

Let's cut to the chase here. The likes of Cork and Westwood would not get near even the squad of ANY other PL side and yet Dyche has decided to build his team around the pair of them. Today that was so blatantly obvious and if we'd played til midnight it's unlikely we'd have scored.

Championship,yes, PL not even close.

Do you think Dyche has it in him to freshen the squad up and drop some of his favourites? Not sure I do. If it wasn't for our injury crisis McNeil would still be rotting in the under 23s.

Dyche has always been good at getting the best out of what he has.

It’s actually improving what he has to start with where he falls down.

Do you think Glen Little or Robbie Blake would start in a Dyche side? I don’t. That there is the answer why we couldn’t break down the ten men today, it’s hard work and running over flair and creativity.
I wouldn’t trust him with anymore transfer money. Time to go play hoof ball elsewhere please.

The list of players people have said need to go in the summer is as long as my arm. Hoping for a huge 'freshen up' is only going to lead to disappointment, it could happen but there's nothing to suggest that's how the club operates.

Brady
Defour
Lenon
Walters
Hart
Crouch
Ward

Also seen calls for Barnes, Hendrick etc

That's one hell of a spring clean... Really think we're making 5+ in 5+ out?

You lot are just plain embarrassing. Not a word said a few weeks ago. Some admittedly bad results and look at you. You're on here like sh*t off a shiny shovel.
There are maybe 100 people in the town that want SD out. Around half of them post on here. You are a noisy minority. Nothing more. God help us with no SD on our small town budget.
Almost every championship club has more money than us. Get real eh?

the board haven't backed him to the degree required when we finished 7th, they wont back him now. Maybe they can't back him to the degree required and that will forever be our issue.

I'm already expecting "there are clubs in League one paying bigger wages than we do" to be trotted out over the summer should we go down

We were second best all over the park and that against ten men.
Never said I was happy with yesterday's performance. But it seems you are condemning the manager as not being good enough then on one game.

The likes of Cork and Westwood would not get near even the squad of ANY other PL side and yet Dyche has decided to build his team around the pair of them. Today that was so blatantly obvious and if we'd played til midnight it's unlikely we'd have scored.

Championship,yes, PL not even close.
Cork not getting near another PL squad? I'm not Cork's biggest fan but when we signed him from Swansea he'd already played around 160 Premier League games. And, despite your suggestion that if we'd played til midnight it's unlikely we'd have scored. Can I remind you that we actually did score.

We were all over them in the second half and we’re denied, yet again, a clear penalty which may well have seen us go two - one up. Then it’s a different game.
Would all these rissoles complaining so eagerly this morning have had much to say, I wonder ?

Brady
Defour
Lenon
Walters
Hart
Crouch
Ward

Also seen calls for Barnes, Hendrick etc

That's one hell of a spring clean... Really think we're making 5+ in 5+ out?
Crazy that only one player in your list (which is spot on) is under 30. We’ve stockpiled so many ageing players. I would hope that McNeil would convince Dyche to be less scared of youth and even, perhaps, consider signing some young players. However I think it’s a forlorn hope, if he stays I expect the same old, safe, journeyman type signings. It’s completely moribund at the moment.

Few points.

I wasn’t happy with a few things yesterday, mainly our laboured build up play and two abject performances from our front two. For the most part we did keep spreading the play trying to work the space, however the final ball was lacking.

I’m not sure about this bizarre notion of 4 defenders against 1 attacker tactical suicide theme that our resident experts are pushing. We allowed our full backs to get further up the pitch and get more crosses in. Hence Taylor setting up one goal and should have got a pen. If anything I’d have brought on Lowton for Bardsley with 30 mins to go.

Penalties. On the day, both looked nailed on, on motd even more so. Can’t blame the manager for that. Pen gets given, we win 2-1, everyone goes home happy.

I left the game pretty embarrassed, as you should not be losing against a ten men team, BUT **** happens sometimes.

Once again our failure to clear our lines is the most alarming thing about yesterday.

As for some of the comments about our manager, he’s not perfect by any stretch but we were all saying only 3 weeks ago that we’d witnessed one of our best performances ever against Spurs.

Whatever happens in the next few games, we’ve got a big summer ahead of us.

Not just **** results is it? It's absolute poo tactics and poo substitutions. Nothing changes. I thought he'd turned a corner but for some reason he's reverted back to type.
