Barnes starting will depend on his injury looked to twist his knee at the end throwing himself down for a penalty couldn't put pressure on it hopefully nothing serious or we may play our remaining games just using Crouch an Wood!

Agreed. There's very little point in discussing team selection when we all know exactly what Dyche will pick (more or less). And every opposing manager I might add!

When Dyche dropped Hart he said he has changed everything so what was left was to change the keeper.

Well he hasn't tried starting with Gibson instead of Mee and he hasn't tried Vydra starting full stop.

Dyche needs balls to drop the undroppable players.

First things first - it will and should be a back 4. We've tried the 3-5-2 experiment and it wasn't a conspicuous success.

The key for me as that as much as the Barnes/Wood front two has been pretty effective since Christmas, in the last two games, against teams willing to sit deep and allow us the ball, it's been ineffective. That's no great surprise because whilst Barnes in particular is a better technician than he's given credit for, neither really has the nimbleness or craftiness to unpick a massed back 4. That places a huge amount of reliance on the quality of the crossing from wide, and in truth the lack of quality delivery has been exposed at times. Wolves will play exactly the same way - they sit deep with 3 centre halves, and use their pace on the counter attack to launch rapid counter attacks - so we're going to need to find a little bit more variation to our play. That probably means one of the front 2 giving way and either a reversion to 4-5-1/4-4-1-1, or Vydra coming in as the second striker.

The other point here is that in those recent games, teams have got wise to the fact that for a team which places quite a lot of emphasis on its full backs to provide those crosses, Bardsley is a weak link going forwards. He's had upwards of 20 decent crossing opportunities in the last two home games, and I can't think of a single telling delivery that he's created. He's been pretty good defensively and a really important part of our defensive improvement, but there's got to be serious consideration given to playing Lowton in these sorts of games instead.

So, I'd be tempted to look at:

-----------Heaton
Lowton Tarks Mee Taylor
Hendrick Cork Westy McNeil
-------------Vydra
-----------Barnes.

But I'd equally be tempted at McNeil going in behind the striker, with JBG playing off either flank opposite Hendrick.

It doesn't matter what the line up is: I would like to see the starting eleven play a passing game, going forward with more pace, with players passing into space in front of their team mates, who are expecting it. I would love to see our midfield and strikers linking up as if they new what they were all doing. Unfortunately, I am sure I will see more sideways, sideways, sideways, then hoof.
I am a Dyche fan but he needs to become more ambitious in his attacking play, more understanding of the needs of a team in the PL against good, footballing opponents.

Same team again tbh. The real issues were the decisions made during the game. Vydra should've been on at least 20 minutes earlier than he was. With the players we actually have available he was the one that made complete sense. Truth is though the players we truly needed yesterday don't exist in our squad.

And no, that's not because we couldn't afford them.

It's quite baffling why so many people persist having tarkowski in their team when he made 2 absolute howlers on Saturday, which ultimately lost us the game, and it's not the first time, he's far too slow, makes wrong decisions far too often and just thinks he's better than he is, needs to give his head and wobble imo, but even more baffling is why would you drop mee and put tarkowski on the left when he's a right sided centre back, it's simple just bring long in, and ffs Southgate stop picking him for England he's not England class on Saturdays evidence.

I agree with this, I think McNeil in the hole looks a really viable option. Hendrick one side Gudmundsson the other would probably work well in negating Wolves fullbacks.

Long balls to Wolves three Centre defenders is not the way to go, Wolves really play with 5 at the back when not in possession.

Because there needs to be a bit of a sense of loyalty to players. Tarkowski had a bad afternoon on Saturday, but he's otherwise had a very good run of performances since Christmas. Some perspective is required.

Ultimately at times Tarkowski is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't when he sees a lack of runners and movement ahead of him. If he knocks it long, he's accused of "hoofing it". If he tries to play despite the lack of options, he's accused of overplaying and thinking he's better than he is. To some extent the same goes for the criticism of Brady for the winner on Saturday - he probably made a bad decision, but he made a bad decision because he was trying to do something constructive with the ball rather than wellying it (and so trying to put us back on the attack, rather than allowing Leicester a free attack). Yet the immediate accusation of many is that he's "showboating". Had he just bashed it into touch, and if we always did that, just imagine how much criticism there would be of our football.

Wolves will love hitting us on the break over and over again if we set up to go at them. At this moment in time I would take a draw without a seconds hesitation. Five at the back let's aim not to concede and hope we can nick one somewhere as I really can't see anything other than another convincing Wolves win.

Heaton
Bardsley Tarks Mee Gibson Taylor
JBG Hendrick Westwood McNeil
Wood

I hope this apathy subsides before the next match.

Historically, we used to do quite well against teams playing 3 centre backs because our narrow midfield 4 meant we weren't outnumbered in midfield against an opposing 3, and was well enough drilled that the wide midfielders were also capable of helping us make a man advantage count on the outside. But this relies on the full backs being effective attacking outlets, and in recent games it has become apparent that only Taylor is actually providing any sort of outlet.

The thing that baffles me (we’ll it doesn’t really) is that despite the obvious trends people would still rather select Barnes over Wood.

Last season we reached 4th and we’re flying until Wood’s injury, we then didn’t win again until he returned against Everton (off the bench to turn the game may I add). This season our form didn’t turn until he found his form. Now at the minute he’s looking below his standard but there is no way on earth he’s been worse than Barnes, who gets away with poor performances in many people’s eyes because ‘he puts himself about’. He struggles to run the channels, he rarely threatens the goal, ok he’s not often offside but that’s because he doesn’t move until after the pass most of the time.
There’s only one striker out of those two I’d drop and it ain’t wood. But despite all that I do accept they are our best partnership (which says more about our recruitment than anything else).

Need to really freshen it up. McNeil needs a rest as has been quiet last few games and Heaton looks a liability. Bardsley and Barnes for all their efforts just aren't up to Premiership standard and Vydra deserves a chance

With Barnes & McNeill to come on after 70 mins no matter how it's going.
