Big Sam said always respect a point
Big Sam said always respect a point
Regardless of what people think of him one good point he made was that you should always take a point if/when things are not going well.
Had we done so today we would have been one point further ahead than Cardiff and we would have brought our losing sequence to an end.

Yep. Was obvious we couldn’t break them down. Should have settled. A point means Cardiff can afford to win a game as we’d have been ahead on goal difference

We should definitely have settled for a point, especially with our superior goal average on Cardiff.

We should have been murdering a team playing for 85 mins with 10 men. The fact we were t shows just how little progress has been made since last season. In fact, we’ve actually gone backwards.

Re: Big Sam said always respect a point
Dont get this idea from yesterdays scenario cos at 1 v 1 its not like he threw on Vydra and we 100% went for the win and got caught on the break. Leicester were hanging on and if anything our mistake was not being more courageous with our subs round the 75 min mark and really pushing for the second and then shutting up shop once we got it.
Imagine if we'd have started sitting back last 5 mins and invited Leicester on to the front foot leading to them scoring this board would have exploded even more than it did do and rightly so

No way we should have settled for a point against a side with ten men, at home and controlling the second half. Can you imagine the reaction on here if we did that.

As soon as Bardsley was booked, we should’ve brought Lowton on. Yes he’s a defender but in those circumstances he’s a totally different option. We’d have become a more balanced attacking side with much better delivery into the box. Our lack of tactics yesterday and our inability to change anything, concerned me more than anything else.

Thing is we didn't get a point. And if we had I'd have been disappointed given the circumstances. And if Sam said that I'm not sure it was in the context of playing at home with the opposition a man short for the entire game.Spijed wrote:Regardless of what people think of him one good point he made was that you should always take a point if/when things are not going well.

He would never say that.
Re: Big Sam said always respect a point
I thought we should gave brought Vydra on around 70 mins, we were crying out for a flair player in the box and I think it would have suited Vydra. I agree though with the subject that a point would have been very welcome.
Re: Big Sam said always respect a point
Disappointing as it may have been it would almost certainly have meant that Cardiff would be coming here behind us in the table. Even if they were to somehow beat Chelsea they would still have been behind us on goal difference as the chances of them getting anything at the Etihad are almost none. They are the only two games they play before us.taio wrote:Thing is we didn't get a point. And if we had I'd have been disappointed given the circumstances. With them being behind us in the table they can't afford to sit back like Leicester did. That's why the odd point here and there can make all the difference.
