Defeat at home to Leicester leaves us staring well and truly down the barrel of relegation.
Safety is still in our own hands BUT safety is also now in Cardiffs hands following our 4 straight defeats.

Burnley are currently 2 points clear of Cardiff and have a superior GD but Cardiff have a game in hand.By the time we play Cardiff at home, they will have 2 games in hand. Assuming they lose to Chelsea then we will be 2 points ahead of them plus any points we get v Wolves/Bournemouth. If we can take at least 4 points then our lead will be 6 points plus GD. That in my opinion is the minimum we will need. If Cardiff come to Burnley only needing a draw then we will find it very difficult to win as we proved yesterday. If Cardiff HAVE to win it will be a completely different game.

Dyche and the players and the Board need to take a long hard look in the mirror. To me it is shocking that we sold Vokes and replaced him with Crouch. What on earth must Vydra think when he is on the bench watching Crouch play ahead of him ? and what does it say about our signing of Vydra if Dyche prefers Crouch !!!

Wood and Barnes played really well together in our unbeaten run but for some reason look like cart horses at the moment ( and disinterested ones at that ). Morgan looked 20 pounds overweight yesterday but still played our strikers with ease and even had time to get up field to head the winner.

Yesterdays abysmal performance had RELEGATION written all over it. We can still survive but our chances are running out fast.

They do indeed, which will now be rearranged because it clashes with City's FA Cup semi-final.

Safety was in both teams hands before yesterday and it remains so now. In fact, safety is probably also in Fulham's own hands as if they win every game and finish on 38 points they will almost certainly survive.

Agree with BFC. My concern is that our losing runs can go on for long spells and we are far from ending this most unwelcome run of defeats

Think wolves will be tough I’d take a point, but fancy us against Bournemouth to take all 3 and then it’s a case of who’s got the bigger balls against Cardiff and 100% Burnley will be on my coupon that weekend!!

Although we desperately needed the three points yesterday,one point would have not been the worst result ever because it would have taken us theee points ahead of Cardiff and with a superior goal difference...However because we lost we are just two points ahead meaning until we pick up another point a Cardiff win takes them above us...In my opinion both goals that we conceded yesterday were suicidal !

Wolves certainly aren't world-beaters. But, they don't have to beat the world, just beat us .

What price Cardiff to be relegated and what price us? Bookies usually have it right.

I saw our 1-0 defeat at Wolves earlier in the season. We were poor that day and in fact they have had five months to gel into a very clinical and efficient team since then.
If we can't beat a ten man Leicester side, we aren't going to beat Wolves. We need the introduction of Gibson and Vydra into the first eleven in order to breath new life into a team lacking confidence and ideas.

Assuming nobody wants to lose to Cardiff to send us down...

Chelsea/Chelsea remove.
Man City/ Liverpool remove
Man U/ Arsenal remove


Cardiff

Fulham A (already down, away win possible)
Palace H (either way)
Brighton A ( difficult but not impossible)

Burnley

Wolves H (hit us on the break if we are again naive, could go either way but difficult)
Bournemouth A (could go either way)
Everton A (Very difficult)

Chances are Burnley v. Cardiff will be the relegation play-off.

It really is us vs Cardiff. I've said everything I've wanted to say about this season, and have been saying it since July. Now only Burnley vs Cardiff matters and I do not care how drab and uninspiring we are as long as we finish this season with more points than them. Which, I must stress, we really should be doing.

Cardiff can beat Chelsea on their patch, especially how Chelsea are playing

It may ......sort of.....still be in our own hands
but at present our hands aren't getting much of a grip - so to speak.
We're letting things slip badly especially since the Spurs win
where we probably played as well, if not better, than we have done all season.

We've been outplayed and out thought against Newcastle, Palace, Liverpool
and now 10 man Leicester. Clearly it's getting close to very worrying and wiil be even more so
if we don't get anything from Wolves and/or Bournemouth.

I think we have the tougher run in too as Cardiff will
think they can pick up points away to us, Fulham and Brighton.
Possibly Palace at home too.

I think we all know that we'll have to beat Cardiff at home
and hopefully at least one more win from our other games - none of which look easy.

Either that or hope Cardiff collapse badly and that three points against
them and a point elsewhere might just be enough to see us safe.

I'm curious as to why some people think Cardiff are in with a good chance of beating Chelsea based on their current form.

Prior to the West Ham game they'd been thrashed in the three previous matches they'd played and remember, the Hammers home game was the easiest victory we've had this season as well!

As for Wolves, they've lost twice to Huddersfield.

West Ham were far far worse at Cardiff than they were at the Turf. My concern is our home record this season against those around us isn't particularly impressive, a couple of wins, draw and defeats, the Cardiff game will be incredibly tough, on their day they can cause teams problems. We can beat them but I can see them getting something away at Fulham and at home to Palace - this is going to be very tight, we need a minimum of 2 wins

I can't work out why Cardiff can beat Chelsea yet we have no chance when they are in the same predicament that we are. Can I also point people to the fact that we have picked up points against Spurs and Manchester United this season. Football is unpredictable, if those results were all so obvious then we'd all be cleaning up at the bookies. Lets just see what happens

Lest we forget there are 7 games left. Now I fully understand the difficulty in the last 4 games and we will be fortunate to get anything from those but it is possible, however unlikely. Given that, it is a little to early to say it is a two horse race with us and Cardiff - it might be likely but not yet. Nobody from Palace down is safe yet and even Newcastle could potentially get drawn into it (although they would have to pick up only a couple of points from their remaining games for that to happen). The point is any team can have a run of bad form and that team could be Southampton for instance. The likelihood is that Cardiff or Burnley will go down but we cannot rule out a third party as yet. The only thing nailed on at the moment is that Huddersfield and Fulham (bar miracles) are gone.

Southampton:
Watford (A) - not easy by any stretch.
Brighton (A) - not easy and a South Coast derby.
Liverpool (H) - likely defeat.
Wolves (H) - anybodys guess but a fixture like us.
Newcastle (A) - I suspect a loss but hard to call.
Bournemouth (H) - possible win but again unpredictable as it's another derby.
West Ham (A) - unpredictable given West Hams up and down results but could easilly be a defeat.
Huddersfield (H) - you would have to say a win given Huddersfield will be long dead and buried by then (although playing for pride can be a boost).

So not plain sailing for Southampton. Of course they have a game in hand on us but who knows. I'm not feeling as confident as last week after Saturday but all is not yet lost. We can get out of this but forgetting other teams fixtures we still have it in our own hands, yes Cardiff can go above us with their game in hand but our game against them means that we don't have to rely on other results, just our own. We absolutely MUST get something from the Wolves/Bournemouth games to avoid the possibility of Cardiff being more than a point ahead of us come the big game. The only concrete prediction is that the Cardiff game will be a sell-out, in the away end as well, should be an absolutely cracking atmosphere.
