You wouldn't believe the difference in the people of Athens in every day life and then football. Some of the nicest people you could ever meet but the football fans of the City are crazy.

Panathinaikos already have had 6 points deducted by the Greek FA before yesterday's events.

I'm not so sure I agree. Last time I was there they were miserable and ignorant in the extreme, but to be fair they were at the tail end of an extended heat wave that was killing people so maybe that was why. Greeks are friendly but not, in my experience, in Athens.Quickenthetempo wrote:https://www.skysports.com/football/news ... d-tear-gas

Greeks not friendly in Athens ????? I've just spent a week there based in Piraeus and they are great .Its a minority of the nob headed football "fans " who aren't friendly...just like here .Olympiakos are from Piraeus as we know and the rivalry with the Athens teams is just like that between us and Deadwood.

I had my first experience of Athens with our game last year.Been to loads of capital cities in Europe, from Scandanavia downwards and I found the experience generally quite unfriendly.

It surprises me to be honest. I was there for 5 days with the family and had nothing but great things to say about the people.
The police looked a bit scary on the night of the match but you can understand that with what goes on overthere.
Although I liked the match with an edge to the atmosphere.
