He needs to leave us quickly before Dyche starts teaching him how to play properly. :o

Love that pic of him leaving Danny Rose on the ground. The look on Rose's face

I never thought I’d see so many Burnley players connected to the England setup. Southgate obviously keeping track of him.

Absolutely brilliant news today - what a boost for Dwight to be included in the training.

Footage out there of him curling a shot into the top corner in a training match and Southgate shaking his hand and patting him on the back

Can only do him the world of good on a personal level.
Hopefuly that doesnt now give unrealistic or unreasonable expectations.

Seen plenty of posts online from people criticising the setup for him 'only' being in the under 20s.

Not only is it a great achievement, its also sensible. How many players have failed with the pressure of too much too soon?

Its also a system that has worked for France, Germany and Spain.

Why wasn’t he selected for the first team squad? Or at least the U21s?
I think if he was in Chelsea’s reserve side he’d be in the U21s for sure at least?
How many times has this fantastic Hudson-Odoi played in the premier league this season compared to McNeil? If this Odoi can play at ‘the highest level’ why hasn’t he be doing so consistently?

I think he will be a great player but he's certainly not as good as those in front of him yet, give him time and hopefully he will get himself a few full England caps eventually.

Yes, I mean it's not as if Dwight has developed because of Dyche and his coaching team, is it ?

John Murray , Radio 5's excellent commentator, just spoke on "Sport on 5" and said people "were raving about" Dwight after he caught the eye in trying today. Great to hear !!

BBC5Live just said (7pm) that England players "raving about Dwight McNeil, stole the show" during full England training session.
We have some talent there, credit to Burnley backroom staff for bringing him on.

Can't argue with your point about Chelsea reserves but we are little old Burnley. He'll make it one day but for now the U20s will do.

Don't worry, when he's been sold to a top eight club, he will be in the England set up automatically .

That';s often how football goes though isn't it, especially in the Premier League where managers are (justifiably) risk averse ? I mean Rashford only got his chance under Van Gaal because of injuries to established players, Hudson-Odoi can't get into Chelsea's team and many more examples I'm sure.

Isn’t it good to see Mr wastecoat In our stand in a lot of home games so he must have been very impressed with the lad.

Apologies. A bit OTT. But point stands. People are expecting world beaters at 18

McNeil should be credited for even making the 20s. And should be allowed to develop.

Southgate has shown he is prepared to give youth a chance. Alomg with players from unfashionable clubs.

Just fear there will be even more expectation and pressure on a young kid.

Course many can handle it. And sure McNeil is capable. But fans need to be patient and cautious. Some of his passes got some real groans from around us in the cfs saturday.

What happens on the field of play is a bit different to training mate. Dyche is a fine manager for us (and I was actually having a laugh anyway) but we all know for a fact that he does sometimes tend to stifle creativity, if you think otherwise you've not been going to Turf Moor to watch your football. ;)

Played the whole 90 minutes last Friday as England lost to Poland but was subbed on Tuesday night in the 63rd minute straight after Portugal scored the only goal of the game.

I don’t think he’s good enough for England. He can’t complete 90 mins for Burnley yet
