Derby County FC - £1 only
report in today's The Times that the owner is prepared to sell Derby for "a token" £1. Thing is he also wants all the £100m + that he's loaned the club paying off by the new owners.
Any takers?

Their financial results will be out soon, presumably not too good (in terms of trend- given the previous year's were on a downward trend and this year's probably worse).
I'm not sure how the debt works but it looks like Morris has funded Sevco5112 (the club's owners) quite heavily: debt to him was £54 million 2 years ago, grew to £96 million last year and presumably north of £100 million in the forthcoming accounts.
Rams have good gates and a new ground but £100 million + £1 is a big price for a Championship Club.

Got to wonder if Lampard and crew will hang around now it looks like the money is running out and that cost cutting will likely have to happen....

How much for Frank Lampards Derby County?
Re: Derby County FC - £1 only
Occurences like this and events at Bolton make me wonder why Venkys keep splashing out to keep Black urn afloat.
Re: Derby County FC - £1 only
I've wondered that as well, Stayingup. The only thing I can think of is that it is out of pride and a stubborn determination not to be defeated. Plus they are very, very rich.

I still think its a combination of that plus a feeling that they did it badly wrong at the start.
Put it one way, since they appointed Mowbray they haven't done anything other than be excellent owners.

Has FL had much money out of them? Seems to me he got a lot of very good unknowns in through his name and Chelsea connection. Can’t see them making it this time and then he has a decision to make.BurnleyPaul wrote:Got to wonder if Lampard and crew will hang around now it looks like the money is running out and that cost cutting will likely have to happen....

Mentioned a while back on the "Magic Money Tree" thread that Derby was available to buyBurnleyPaul wrote:Got to wonder if Lampard and crew will hang around now it looks like the money is running out and that cost cutting will likely have to happen....
Cost cutting kicked in during the summer before Lampard was appointed

with FFP allowing losses of £39m over 3 years in the championship - the new trend is to have a 2 year push at it (like Derby) and if it fails clean up your act for a couple of years before going again 9so long as the sugar daddy is willing to go for it). What is also apparent is the determination to grow all revenues - hence the displeasure with the new sky deal and the announcement of many clubs including derby and Forest to enhance the stadium and income earning infrastructure together with a growth in sponsorship and other commercial opportunities.
